The Department of Systems & Industrial Engineering is seeking an instructor for its Introduction to Integrated Business and Engineering Design course and the follow-on course Introduction to Business and Engineering Projects. The first course is a 1-unit course offered every Fall semester and the second course is a 2-unit course offered every Spring semester. These are both taken by integrated business and engineering students as required courses.

The instructor will prepare lecture materials, student assessments (quizzes, home work assignments, exams, projects, etc.), and deliver lectures at the University of Arizona Main Campus.

The ideal candidate will have academic and/or industry experience in engineering and business/entrepreneurial areas.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Teach one section of IBE 101 Introduction to Integrated Business and Engineering Design in the Fall and one section of IBE 102 Introduction to Integrated Business and Engineering Projects in the Spring.
  • Support the development of the course and the associated projects.
  • Prepare and deliver instructional materials and guide/lead class activities once per week in the Fall semester at the University of Arizona Main Campus in Tucson, AZ
  • Ensure successful delivery of the course's learning objectives through the creation and dissemination of students assessments (e.g., quizzes, homework, exams, projects, etc.)
  • Establish and adhere to grading rubrics to ensure students understand grading expectations
  • Provide timely feedback to students on their submitted assignments
  • Maintain course materials in the University's chosen Learning Management System.
  • Gather and report learning outcomes assessment to department advisor
  • Assist in the professional development of students as appropriate

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Subject matter mastery in engineering and business/entrepreneurship
  • Command of Learning Management System (D2L/Brightspace)
  • Ability to provide students with feedback on assignments, projects, and exams

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering or closely related discipline and 5 years of experience as an engineering professional in one or more industrial organizations

OR

  • Master's degree in an engineering or closely related discipline
  • Selected candidate must provide education credentials during the offer discussions

In compliance with the Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act (Clery Act), each year the University of Arizona releases an Annual Security Report (ASR) for each of the University’s campuses. These reports disclose information including Clery crime statistics for the previous three calendar years and policies, procedures, and programs the University uses to keep students and employees safe, including how to report crimes or other emergencies and resources for crime victims. As a campus with residential housing facilities, the Main Campus ASR also includes a combined Annual Fire Safety report with information on fire statistics and fire safety systems, policies, and procedures.
