Hugh Baird College is seeking two committed Electrical Installation Lecturers to join our Building Services team. These roles are essential to supporting our learners and curriculum for the new academic year.

We are looking for candidates who bring strong trade expertise and the ability to deliver high‑quality teaching and assessment.

While we welcome applicants transitioning from industry, at least one of these appointments must have prior teaching or training experience due to curriculum needs.

About the Role

As a Lecturer in Electrical Installation, you will deliver high‑quality teaching across Levels 1–3 to:

  • 16–18 learners
  • Adult students
  • Apprentices

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and delivering engaging lessons
  • Assessing and supporting learners to achieve their goals
  • Providing constructive feedback
  • Maintaining accurate course records
  • Contributing to curriculum development and quality improvement
  • You’ll join a supportive, experienced team committed to developing the next generation of electricians.

Who We’re Looking For

  • Experienced FE lecturers
  • Electrical trainers/assessors
  • Industry professionals with proven experience delivering training, mentoring apprentices, or supervising learners
  • Off‑the‑tools candidates with some teaching exposure and readiness to step into a structured teaching role

Essential Requirements

To be considered, you must have:

  • Level 2 and Level 3 Diploma qualifications in Electrical Installation.
  • Successful completion of the AM2 assessment (this may be listed as City & Guilds 5357 or EAL 7345). Applications from candidates who hold the diplomas but have not completed the AM2 will not be considered, as this role involves the delivery of apprenticeship programmes.
  • A valid 18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification. Candidates holding only the 17th Edition qualification will not be considered.
  • Recent and relevant industry experience within Electrical Installation.
  • A teaching qualification, or a willingness to work towards one.
  • The ability to motivate, support and challenge learners to achieve their potential.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.

Desirable Requirements

  • Experience teaching within Further Education, adult learning or private training environments.
  • Assessor qualification.
  • Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) qualification.
  • Experience delivering apprenticeship standards and workplace-based learning.
  • Knowledge of awarding body and apprenticeship compliance requirements.
