Coleg Sir Gâr and Coleg Ceredigion are seeking to appoint a dynamic, enthusiastic and innovative individual to join our A-Level teaching team.

This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive and learner-focused professional who is passionate about delivering high-quality education and contributing to the continued success and reputation of the College. Based at our Graig Campus within the A-Level Curriculum Area, the successful candidate will play an important role in supporting learner achievement, progression and wellbeing.

The A-Level Curriculum Area offers a broad and vibrant programme including AS and A Levels, Diplomas in Criminology and Applied Science, and the Advanced Skills Baccalaureate Wales (ASBW). Most AS/A2 learners are enrolled on the ASBW programme, and the successful applicant will play a key role in its delivery alongside teaching AS/A Level Law and supporting learners as a Personal Tutor.

We have strong partnerships with local schools and are committed to supporting learners in making informed decisions about their post-16 education and transition into college life. The successful candidate will contribute to maintaining and developing these valuable relationships.

What you will be doing

  • Teach AS/A Level Law within the A-Level Curriculum Area
  • Deliver Level 3 Advanced Skills Baccalaureate Wales (ASBW) provision
  • Deliver the college-wide PSHE tutorial programme alongside A-Level specific tutorial sessions
  • Act as a Personal Tutor, supporting learner progress, wellbeing and achievement
  • Monitor learner attendance, engagement and performance, implementing support and interventions where required
  • Contribute to curriculum development, quality improvement and innovative teaching and learning practices
  • Support learner progression through effective tracking, assessment and feedback
  • Participate in outreach, open evenings, learner interviews and admissions activities
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, partner schools, employers and external stakeholders
  • Contribute to the development of commercial courses, projects and extra-curricular activities
  • Promote inclusive, learner-centred and bilingual approaches to teaching and learning
  • Support the College’s commitment to high standards, safeguarding and learner wellbeing

What you will need

Welsh Language Requirements:
  • Welsh Oracy (Listening/Speaking) - Level 0/1 Desirable
  • Welsh Literacy (Writing/Reading) - Level 0/1 Desirable

We are looking for someone who:
  • Holds a relevant degree or equivalent qualification
  • Holds a recognised teaching qualification, or is willing to work towards one
  • Has relevant teaching experience within post-16 or further education
  • Has experience of pastoral care, tutorial support or learner mentoring
  • Demonstrates excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills
  • Has a strong understanding of teaching and learning within post-16 education
  • Can effectively track and monitor learner performance and progression
  • Is committed to delivering an outstanding learner experience
  • Can work collaboratively as part of a team and contribute positively to College life
  • Has good digital literacy skills and the ability to adapt to innovative teaching approaches
  • Is professional, adaptable and committed to continuous professional development
Experience of teaching ASBW, contributing to innovative curriculum development and supporting extra-curricular activities would be advantageous.
