The Advanced Computing Center for the Arts and Design (ACCAD) and theCollege of Arts and Sciences (ASC)at The Ohio State University seek a Lecturer and ACCAD Archivistfor a unique 50/50 appointment that combines teachingcourses forthe College of Arts & Sciences,withadministrative dutiesaimed atpreservation and interpretation of ACCAD's history. The successful candidate will devote approximately 50% effort to teaching undergraduate andorgraduate courses and 50% effort to leading an archival initiative that documents, preserves, and shares ACCAD's legacy through research, storytelling, digital media, and public exhibitions. This position will collaborate with faculty, staff, students, alumni, and university partners to develop engaging digital and physical experiences that highlight ACCAD's impact on the fields of art, design, dance, theatre, music, and computing.

Archivist Responsibilities (50%)

  • Conduct archival research using physical and digital collections, oral histories, publications, and project documentation.
  • Collaborate with faculty, alumni, staff, and other stakeholders to gather historical materials and document institutional stories.
  • Organize, catalog, and preserve archival materials using accessible and sustainable archival practices.
  • Develop written narratives that communicate ACCAD's history, impact, and contributions.
  • Produce multimedia content, including videos, interviews, timelines, and interactive digital features.
  • Write and edit content for websites, exhibitions, promotional materials, and other public-facing communications.
  • Coordinate with student employees and designers to develop andmaintainACCAD history webpages and other digital resources.
  • Curate physical and virtual exhibitions highlighting significant projects, people, and milestones.
  • Collaborate with university partners toidentifyexhibition opportunities and public programming.
  • Develop project timelines and provide regular progress reports to the ACCAD Director.
  • Teaching assignments are subject todepartmental andcollegeneeds.

Lecturer Responsibilities (50%)

  • Deliver high-quality instruction in assigned undergraduate and graduate courses, using effective teaching practices that promote student learning and engagement.
  • Maintain regular office hours and provide academic advising, mentorship, and support to students.
  • Evaluate student assignments, projects, examinations, and other coursework, providingtimelyand constructive feedback.
  • Submit final grades andmaintainaccurateacademic recordsin accordance withuniversity policies and established deadlines.
  • Participate in curriculum development, course assessment, and continuous improvement efforts to ensure course contentremainscurrent and aligned with program goals.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to support curricular coordination, student success, and departmental initiatives.
  • Foster a positive and respectful learning environment that encourages student participation, creativity, and academic achievement.
  • Maintain professionalexpertisethrough ongoing scholarship, creative practice, and professional development activities related to design, creative media, embodied interaction, and emerging technologies.

Performance Expectations

  • Deliver high-quality instruction that promotes student learning and engagement.
  • Meet all scheduled classes, office hours, and university deadlines.
  • Prepare course materials and assess student learningin accordance withdepartment standards.

Required Qualifications: Master's degree or higher in design, art, media arts, performing arts, digital humanities, museum studies, archival studies, ora related field.Minimum four years of professional experience in teaching, creative practice, archival work, curatorial practice, ora relatedfield.Demonstrated university-level teaching experience or equivalent instructional experience.Experience conducting archival research, historical documentation, or curatorial projects.Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.Experience creating digital content using Adobe Creative Suite, video editing software, content management systems, or similar tools.Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects independently and collaboratively.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with institutional archives, museums, galleries, or special collections.Experience developing exhibitions or public history projects.Familiarity with oral history methodologies.Knowledge of accessibility standards for digital content.
