FT Faculty UDMPU (9 month)
The Department of Religious Studies at the University of Detroit Mercy invites applications for a full-time non-tenure-track position at the rank of Lecturer in Health Care Ethics, to begin August 16, 2026. Successful candidates will demonstrate the ability to teach health care ethics from both secular and religious perspectives. Special consideration will be given to candidates who can also teach courses in global health and healing traditions, and other courses in religion and ethics.
Candidates shall have Ph.D. or Th.D. in Religious Studies, Theology, or Ethics. Advanced ABDs will be considered. The Lecturer will teach our undergraduate Religious Studies majors and minors, as well as contribute to the university's Core Curriculum in Ethics and Religious Studies. They will teach courses focused on Healthcare Ethics, as well as other courses on topics in their area of specialization. The teaching load is 24 credit hours (8 courses) per academic year.
We are especially interested in applicants dedicated to excellence in teaching in a liberal arts setting. Strong candidates will have a record of experience or demonstrated commitment to teaching diverse students. Physical Requirements
Job may require lifting light weight objects (1 to 10 pounds) with no repetitive bending or stooping. Occasionally lift average weight objects (1 to 10 pounds).
