Location: Primarily Remote (with occasional in-person requirements - seeking local candidate)
Purpose of this position: Serves as a subject matter expert and administrator in the areas of absence management, workers compensation and workplace accommodations.
Responsible for evaluating and continuing to improve leave programs, including but not limited to: vended LOA policy and program, absence management, workers compensation and return to work. The leave of absence coordinator is able to make independent decisions in adherence to federal and state regulatory leave and accommodation laws, time and attendance reporting, benefit eligibility, LOA communications, LOA compensation including disability plans and time off accruals. Supports both employees and leaders with facilitating a return to work strategy for light duty work assignment and/or reduced work schedule.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Works as part of an integrated team to advise and educate employees about sensitive and confidential issues as well as managers on leave policies and processes for federal/state regulations including employee responsibilities before the leave, during their leave, and return to work
Review, edit, and enter timecard codes into UKG. Enter nonpaid codes and calculate the supplementing amount of PTO for MN Paid Leave per request from the employee
Runs reports from the leave vendor to process leave pay and partners with Payroll
Review, track, evaluate, and manage ADA claims. Obtain the medical documentation and have interactive conversations with the employees and managers to determine appropriateness for reasonable accommodations
Facilitates comparable job analysis and position reassignment for staff
Review, analyze, and respond timely to cases that are assigned to the Leave team
Reviews report of work abilities (medical documents) to assist with finding light duty work assignments for employees with non-occupational injuries
Collaborates with Hennepin County Work Comp, EOHW and Safety to find light duty assignments for occupational injuries
Collaborate with HR Business Partners, Legal, Employee Relations, and Executive Leadership to identify, assess, and make decisions related to complex leave and accommodation issues
Researches and responds to employee and leader questions in a concise, accurate, professional, and timely manner using sound judgement
