You’re a hands-on mechanical professional ready to build your career in natural gas compression. As a Lease Compression Technician I with Cooper Machinery Services, you’ll work independently at customer sites performing preventive maintenance, basic troubleshooting, equipment inspections, and service activities that help keep critical compression equipment operating safely and reliably. You’ll develop your compression expertise while representing Cooper directly with customers in the field.

What You Will Do

• Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on natural gas compression packages at customer sites, working independently with minimal supervision.
• Diagnose and resolve basic mechanical and equipment issues in the field, escalating complex problems to a lead technician or supervisor when needed.
• Monitor equipment condition and communicate equipment status, maintenance findings, and issues to customer personnel and the Cooper team.
• Follow all safety procedures, identify and report hazards, and properly use required PPE while working independently at customer locations.
• Complete accurate maintenance logs and service reports documenting work performed, equipment condition, and relevant service findings.
• Serve as a professional on-site representative of Cooper, building customer trust through clear communication, reliable service, and professional conduct.
• Travel extensively to field locations and safely perform hands-on work in varying weather conditions, including climbing ladders, working in confined spaces, and lifting equipment up to 50 pounds.

Who You Are

• You have 1 - 2 years of direct experience with natural gas compression equipment and prior experience as a mechanic or field service technician in the oil and gas industry.
• You bring solid mechanical skills, hands-on repair experience, and a working understanding of basic tools, engines, compressors, and mechanical systems.
• You have experience with Caterpillar, Cooper-Bessemer, Ajax, Superior, or similar compression and engine equipment.
• You can work independently at customer sites under minimal supervision and know when to escalate technical issues.
• You are comfortable working directly with customers and representing Cooper professionally during every service visit.
• You have basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel, along with a valid driver’s license and a high school diploma or equivalent.
• You are safety-minded, dependable, adaptable, and committed to taking ownership, communicating clearly, and continuing to develop your technical skills.

Preferred

• CDL or willingness to obtain one.
