
GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB.
With direction from Corps Officer, oversee daily operations of the Learning Zone. Ensure that the program meets all academic standards and stays true to the mission of The Salvation Army.
To be knowledgeable of the needs and concerns of the early childhood population in Lorain County and the needs of the school system regarding academic enrichment and seek follow-up on how our former students have adjusted to the public schooling.
Oversee and guide the staff within the Learning Zone concerning the day to day needs and operations of the centers.
Assist with supervision and responsibility for children on a daily basis, attending to their physical needs within the center and ensuring their safety.
Maintain good working relationships with all parents and staff, which includes assisting teachers with scheduling conferences with parents.
Maintain a safe, non-judgmental and consistent environment within the Learning Zone and maintain a spiritual emphasis throughout the program.
Assist with proper record keeping as required by contracted funding sources.
Assist with ensuring assessments and screenings are completed on all students and that appropriate teacher and parent surveys are conducted each year.
Ensure all assessments and documents with outside collaborations are complete.
Market the programs and assist with planning and improving program. Recruit and enroll children to the program.
Ensure that accurate records are kept concerning attendance, child progress, and other information that may be required for reports and that monthly statistics are completed, compiled, and reported.
Collect and reporting statistical information for The Salvation Army and all other funding agencies.
Ensure proper billing, receiving, and receipting of payments by parents for The Learning Zone services provided in accordance with Salvation Army accounting policies.
Oversight of all food service for preschool and childcare including supervision of menu planning, food inventory and ordering, and food preparation.
Ensure that the Learning Zone is kept clean, and that any janitorial needs are reported to the Corps Officers.
Organize and conduct a monthly Family Night during the school year, with the exception of January.
Create a yearly calendar that is given to each of the families that have a student program including holiday closings and scheduled family nights prior to the school year start.
Ensure transportation requirements are met by The Salvation Army standards pertaining to vehicles and staff training.
Plan and implement a 8-10 week summer camp with all of the same expectations listed above for the after school program.
Any and all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Corps Officers.
