Job Description

Brent Knoll School is looking for inspirational and dedicated Learning Support Assistants to join our inclusive school community as soon as possible.

This role will involve supporting the holistic development of individuals and groups of students in the school.

The salary is at Scale 4 Spine Points 8 - 10 currently £32,442 - £33,384 p.a. Please note that this is the all year round salary which will be pro rated for term time only 39 weeks per year and 33 hours per week Monday to Friday.

Brent Knoll is an all age (4 - 17 years) special school with a one-year sixth form provision for children and young people with social and communication difficulties including autism. Many of our pupils also have significant learning, and social and emotional difficulties. The school moved to a purpose-built building in September 2015 with fantastic facilities which have brought exciting opportunities for enriching the curriculum and children’s learning. If you are passionate about working with and supporting pupils with SEND, we can offer an exciting future in special school education in a creative and innovative provision. By working collaboratively with experienced and like-minded colleagues this could be the post for you.

You will be supported by working with a dedicated staff team to develop and adapt pedagogical approaches to meet the diverse needs of our learners, enabling them to achieve the best possible outcomes. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication skills when working in partnership with families, colleagues and children.

You will benefit from opportunities for further professional development and career progression as we value and support staff in all aspects of school life. We have a highly supportive and experienced leadership and safeguarding team as well as Lead Practitioners on the staff team to provide expert advice and training for colleagues.

No previous special school experience is necessary as we provide a comprehensive induction package and excellent continuing professional development, training and support. You do need a strong interest in inclusive practice to support learners with SEND and a commitment to professional learning, reflection and growth.

We are committed to supporting the mental health and physical well-being of all our pupils and staff. We have a dedicated team of colleagues responsible for promoting best practice in this area.

The school is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and we implement all aspects of the safer recruitment process. We are an equal opportunities employer and committed to equity, diversity and inclusion to create a supportive learning environment for all students and staff.
