Job Description

Create your best future and join Westpac as a Learning Experience Manager

At Westpac, learning is evolving. We’re moving beyond traditional training towards improving performance in real, practical ways - focusing on what drives capability and outcomes, not just building courses.

As part of the Learning Business Partnering team, you’ll play a key role in how we approach capability uplift across the organisation. You’ll work with senior stakeholders, subject matter experts, and delivery teams to bring clarity to complex problems and ensure initiatives are set up to deliver meaningful business impact.

What’s the role?

As a Learning Experience Manager, you’ll own initiatives end-to-end, from early problem definition through to measurable outcomes.

You’ll work with the business to understand performance challenges, define clear outcomes and success measures aligned to real business needs.

You’ll lead discovery with stakeholders and SMEs to clarify problems, priorities and success criteria. From there, you’ll partner with design and delivery teams to progress the work, maintaining intent and delivering outcomes.

You’ll stay accountable across the lifecycle, from discovery through to deployment and evaluation, ensuring outcomes are delivered.

You’ll often work across multiple initiatives and stakeholder groups simultaneously, helping prioritise effort for greatest impact.

This is not a traditional L&D role. You won’t be responsible for designing or building solutions. Instead, you’ll work with specialists to ensure the right approach is agreed and successfully delivered.

This is a hybrid role based in Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane, with a minimum of two days per week in the office to support collaboration and team connection.

What do I need?
  • Proven experience in performance consulting, diagnosing business or performance problems, identifying root causes and underlying behavioural drivers - not defaulting to training
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with confidence working with senior leaders and influencing direction
  • Experience facilitating discovery workshops, aligning diverse stakeholder views, and clarifying problems, outcomes and value
  • Ability to define clear outcomes and success measures tied to business performance, not activity
  • Experience defining performance and capability needs, mapping learner experiences and shaping outcome‑driven interventions
  • A practical understanding of human‑centred design, learning science and contemporary capability approaches, and how these inform problem definition and decision-making
  • Strong data literacy, with the ability to interpret performance, operational and learner experience insights to inform decisions and recommendations
  • Comfortable working in ambiguity, asking the right questions and challenging thinking, respectfully
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex ideas and bring others along
  • Self-driven and proactive, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives at once

Nice to have

  • Experience contributing to large‑scale capability uplift or workforce performance initiatives
  • Ideally, you’re comfortable using a range of AI tools to accelerate the speed and improve the quality of your work. A bonus is you are proficient in AI-enabled learning tools.
  • Experience working within hybrid or multi‑team delivery environments
