Backed by top-tier investors ($8M raised) and used by millions of learners globally, we’re looking for a Learning Experience Designer to help us design how people actually learn with Lucida.

What you’ll do

• Design engaging, effective, and personalized learning experiences for AI-powered English learning
• Turn language-learning principles into interactive conversations, lessons, exercises, and feedback experiences
• Design learning journeys across different CEFR levels (A1–C1)
• Create conversation scenarios, roleplays, learning activities, and progression systems that help users improve their speaking skills
• Work closely with Product, Design, Engineering, and AI teams to bring learning experiences from idea to production
• Use learning science, user behavior, and data to understand what helps users learn better
• Design and iterate on AI tutor behaviors, prompts, conversation flows, and feedback mechanisms
• Experiment with different learning approaches and use A/B tests and learner data to measure their impact
• Identify where learners struggle and design better ways to explain, practice, and reinforce language concepts
• Build scalable frameworks and systems that allow us to create high-quality learning experiences with AI
• Continuously improve the balance between learning effectiveness, engagement, and motivation

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience in Learning Design, Instructional Design, Curriculum Design, Language Education, Applied Linguistics, or a related field
• Strong understanding of second-language acquisition and learning science
• Experience designing learning experiences for digital products, apps, or online education
• Strong understanding of English language learning and teaching
• Ability to turn complex educational concepts into simple, engaging user experiences
• Comfortable working with data, experimentation, and user feedback
• Strong product sense and curiosity about how people learn and behave
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Excited about the potential of AI in education
• High ownership, fast execution, and a willingness to experiment and iterate

Bonus points

• Experience with AI-powered learning products
• Experience designing AI tutor or conversational learning experiences
• Familiarity with CEFR, TOEFL, IELTS, or other language proficiency frameworks
• Background in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, SLA, Learning Sciences, or Educational Technology
• Experience with prompt design or human-in-the-loop AI workflows
• Experience working on consumer-facing mobile products
• Experience with gamification or habit-forming learning experiences
