SUMMARY

Our Learning & Development team has built a strong, integrated system of tools, programs, and learning experiences aligned with Mortenson’s culture and business strategy. This learning ecosystem is designed to accelerate growth and meet the evolving needs of our customers and internal teams.

We are now looking for a Learning & Development Specialist, to help bring this system to life. In this next phase of our journey, you will partner with the business to design impactful learning solutions and serve as a facilitator who brings those experiences to life. Through both instructional design and delivery, you will play a key role in evolving how we develop talent at Mortenson. This is a high-impact opportunity to shape the future of learning and development and strengthen our enterprise-wide talent ecosystem.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Instructional Design and Development

  • Apply instructional design skills and design thinking principles to a variety of functional or technical learning projects.
  • Develop engaging, learner-centered content and course materials (e.g., online courses, facilitator guides, participant materials, presentations, and tools).
  • Source or create graphics and visuals that positively contribute to the learner’s overall experience.
  • Maintain and continuously improve existing programs, courses, and materials.

Facilitation & Delivery

  • Lead in-person and virtual onboarding and skill training sessions and workshops, delivering content with enthusiasm, credibility, and strong presence.
  • Adapt facilitation techniques to resonate with individuals at various stages, from those just joining the company to seasoned professionals in leadership roles.

Consultation & Collaboration

  • Collaborate with HR Business Partners, business leaders, participants and their supervisors, and other internal stakeholders regarding programming.
  • Support organization-wide initiatives such as skills, orientation, onboarding, specifically through team member training.
  • Build strong cross-functional relationships to drive adoption and maximize the impact of skills and development programs.

Measurement & Continuous Improvement

  • Leverage data and participant insights to support enhancements and iterate on offerings, ensuring relevance and impact.
  • Stay informed of best practices in project management, construction leadership, onboarding, learning, and professional development to introduce innovative ideas and approaches to the team.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Instructional Design or equivalent experience or equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years of experience in instructional design, development, and facilitation.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience managing multiple instructional design projects at a time.
  • Articulate Rise and graphic design experience preferred.
  • Proven communication and facilitation skills with experience engaging audiences at multiple leadership levels.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work with various personalities and work styles.
  • Strong consulting skills and the ability to build trust and influence across a complex organization.
  • Shown ability to work independently and value a collaborative and team-oriented culture.
  • Coordinate with external training vendors and internal business leader facilitators, coaches, and SMEs.
  • Shown ability to consistently meet deadlines and produce high quality work.
  • Stay current on L&D trends and best practices, and regulatory requirements.

The base pay range for this role is $76,200 - $114,300. (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL – 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR – 10%, Washington, D.C. – 12.5%).

Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity.
