Wellington Aboriginal Corporation Health Service (WACHS) is an Aboriginal community-controlled health organisation that aims to empower Aboriginal people to take control of their individual, family, and community health and wellbeing needs through our clinical and community programs.

Our main services are in Wellington, Dubbo, Western Sydney, Penrith, Nepean, and Blue Mountains, and we provide outreach services to other towns and communities through our regional programs.

About the Role:

We are seeking a passionate Learning & Development Officer to design, coordinate and deliver workforce development initiatives that strengthen the capability of our staff.

This role plays an important part in supporting a skilled, culturally competent and community-focused workforce, aligned with the WACHS strategic plan and values. By building staff capability in culturally safe and trauma-informed care, you will help contribute to improved health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct workforce learning needs analysis with managers and team leaders
  • Develop and implement annual training and workforce development plans
  • Design and deliver training programs including cultural safety and cultural responsiveness, Trauma-informed care, Clinical governance and compliance, Mandatory training requirements & Leadership and supervision development.
  • Facilitate workshops, onboarding programs and group learning sessions
  • Coordinate internal and external training provider
  • Develop learning resources such as manuals, guides and eLearning content
  • Maintain training records and ensure compliance with accreditation standards
  • Support workforce development initiatives including student placements, traineeships & Aboriginal workforce pathways.
  • Build relationships with training organisations, universities and placement providers
  • Evaluate training effectiveness and contribute to continuous improvement activities

Essential Criteria:

  • Certificate IV (or above) in Training and Assessment, Education, Human Resources or relevant field.
  • Experience in workforce development, training coordination or learning & development
  • Strong facilitation and presentation skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities
  • The ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
  • High level computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
  • Experience working within an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation or within community health settings
