Job Description

PrimaryPurpose:

The Learning Designer II designs and develops high-quality, media-rich online courses and closely collaborates with USF faculty, learning designers, and additional stakeholders. They assess learner and faculty needs and devise appropriate and creative solutions to facilitate student learning outcomes. They recommend instructional strategies and technologies and perform thorough content analyses to identify and design innovative solutions. This position works closely with leadership on all assigned projects ensuring that momentum and impact is well-documented through project plans, project management tools, case studies, and scoping documents.

The Learning Designer II leads course development projects from conception to completion. This can include gathering feedback from stakeholders to continually update and improve course development processes, developing professionally through learning design and skills trainings, researching and utilizing up-to-date practices and technologies related to learning design and online learning applications, evaluating online courses and making appropriate recommendations for improvements based on the Florida Quality Review process, producing digital assets and multimedia solutions while adhering to quality standards, student learning outcomes, and production timelines, and working closely with leadership to lead or participate in university initiatives.

PrimaryJobDuties:

  • Facilitates the design and development of high-quality learning materials and online professional development courses based in sound learning theories and best practices.
  • Collaborate with Asst. Director of Education & Professional Development, FCBHW team members, and additional stakeholders.
  • Coordinates subject matter expert meetings for content delivery.
  • Assesses learners need to determine appropriate and creative delivery methods, recommending instructional strategies and technologies to facilitate student learning outcomes.
  • Performs thorough content analysis to ensure grammar, organization, and purpose are clear for intended audience.
  • Produces digital assets and multimedia solutions while adhering to quality standards, student learning outcomes, and production timelines.
  • Gathers feedback from stakeholders to continually update and improve course development processes.
  • Articulates the scope, challenges, solutions, methodology, and impact of all learning design projects through the use of project plans, project management tools, case studies, and scope documents.
  • Research, utilizes, and applies up-to-date practices and technologies related to learning design and online learning applications.
  • Evaluates online courses and makes recommendations for improvements based on the Florida Quality Review process.
  • Assists in the development of ongoing instructional design training sessions, ensuring team utilization of best practices and technologies.
  • Collaborates closely with leadership to participate in or lead new university initiatives, as needed, from conception to completion.

MinimumEducation& Experience:

  • This position requires a Master’s degree in education, learning design, digital media or related field, and two to five years of experience in related positions.

*Degree Equivalency Clause: Six years of direct experience for a master’s degree. *

  • Certifications: Certified in applying quality design standards to online courses (Quality Matters, OLC Scorecard, etc.).
  • A portfolio with at least 2-3 samples of your most recent work in course and/or training development.

Knowledge,Skills& Abilities:

  • Strong team skills.
  • Knowledge of LearnWorlds Learning Management System, preferred.
  • Knowledge of the behavioral health field, preferred.
  • Experience designing for adult/professional learners and workforce development audiences
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and timelines independently
  • Experience translating complex or technical content into engaging, learner-friendly experiences
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced environments with evolving priorities
  • Strong understanding of adult learning theory and instructional design best practice.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, particularly when working with SMEs, leadership, and cross-functional teams. (instead of strong team skills)

WorkingConditions:

  • Environment – Typical indoor environment/office setting.
  • Physical Requirements – climbing, standing, stooping, and/or typing; Ability to lift up to 20lbs as needed.
  • Travel – Ability to travel to other USF campuses and/or other locations as requested.
