Job Description

Create your best future and join Westpac as a Learning Designer - Digital.

What’s the role?

This role sits within the Learning Design & Engagement team and reports to the Head of Learning Design and Engagement, and you’ll operate as a senior digital design specialist with strong influence. You’ll design and build high quality digital learning experiences that are practical, engaging, and easy for people to use at scale.

This is a hands on role. You’ll be on the tools creating digital learning assets — not just designing concepts or managing vendors. Your work will include eLearning modules, interactive scenarios, video, animation and multimedia learning products that support real capability uplift across the organisation.

You’ll work closely with learning leaders, SMEs, and delivery partners, shaping learning solutions and pushing back where needed to ensure the right learning approach, scope and quality. You’ll also use AI tools as part of your day-to-day workflow to prototype, adapt and improve learning content efficiently.

What do you need?
To be successful in this role, you’ll need to demonstrate real digital learning delivery capability, not just theory.

Essential

  • Proven experience designing and building digital learning assets, end to end
  • Strong instructional design skills applied in digital contexts
  • Hands on experience with modern digital learning tools (for example Articulate, Adobe Creative Suite, video or animation tools)
  • Practical use of AI tools to support learning design, content creation, prototyping or QA
  • Confidence working directly with SMEs and stakeholders, including the ability to challenge scope, duration or learning approach when needed

Strongly preferred

  • Background in a digital learning, vendor, or agency environment
  • Evidence of digital outputs (portfolio, examples, or clear descriptions of what you’ve built)
  • Experience delivering at pace in complex or ambiguous environments
  • Familiarity with enterprise learning platforms and digital deployment workflows

Nice to have

  • Exposure to emerging learning technologies (for example simulations or gamified learning)
  • Human centred or UX led design experience

We’re looking for people who are pragmatic, confident, and delivery focused — designers who can move quickly, collaborate well, and ship quality work without over engineering.
