About the organisation

Public Skills Australia (PSA) is appointed by the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations (DEWR) as one of 10 Jobs and Skills Councils. Public Skills Australia works with employer and employee representatives (career and volunteer) from the Public Safety and Government
industry-sectors – Police, Fire and Emergency Services, Correctional Services, Defence, Federal, State/Territory, and Local Government – and provides the following services in support of industry:

·development and consultation of workforce planning and training products that meets industry
and policy needs;

·implementation, promotion and monitoring of strategies that drive improvement of training
delivery and monitor resulting impacts; and

·stewardship of intelligence relating to workforce challenges and skill needs.

About the position

The Learning Designer works within the Training Products and Quality Directorate to support the implementation and promotion of Training Packages. The role is responsible for the end-to-end
development of learning resources that support Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) interpret, design and deliver Training Packages within Public Safety and Government. Key activities for the role include:

·End to end development of resources to support high quality training and assessment delivery

·Development of support materials to translate changes to Training Packages

·Providing advice to RTO stakeholders on the delivery of Training Packages

·Supporting requests from regulators on the interpretation of Training Packages

·Organising and facilitating sessions to support the implementation and promotion of training packages

·Working collaboratively with project teams to provide advice on the development of training packages

·Working with subcontractors on program and project delivery

·Supporting ongoing initiatives to gather feedback and insight into the delivery of Training Packages

·Providing insights on key VET reform initiatives to support Public Skills Australia’s communications function.

Key Selection Criteria

1.Tertiary qualification(s) and/or equivalent experience relevant to the responsibilities of the position.

2.Strong knowledge of Vocational Education and Training and/or compliance requirements, as outlined in the Standards for RTOs and the Training Package Organising Framework.

3.Demonstrated experience delivering projects in partnership with internal and external stakeholders, relevant to vocational education and training.

4.Demonstrated experience consistently delivering high quality verbal and written content on time and to required standards.

5.Demonstrated experience delivering successful outcomes through collaboration and consultation with internal and external stakeholders.

Desirable Selection Criteria

1.Demonstrated experience working within service-focused companies including public safety, not-for- profit companies and/or government.

2.Graphic design experience using Adobe Creative Cloud.

3.Demonstrated understanding of corporate governance and compliance requirements.

4.Demonstrated experience working within the vocational education and training sector.

5.Vocational qualification(s) in training and assessment (e.g. Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, Diploma of Vocational Education and Training).
