Job Description

Learning Content Designer

Department: Learning

Employment Type: Full Time

Location: Remote

Reporting To: Bridget Kenningham

Compensation: £55,000 / year

Do you get a kick out of creating learning people don’t just click through, but actually want to engage with? Do you love getting your hands on complex ideas and turning them into something clear, useful, and genuinely impactful? Do you care more about whether learning sticks and gets used than whether it’s simply been delivered? If you’re wired to build learning that goes beyond content, changes how people think and perform, and works in the real world… we should talk. We’re Tiro. We build science and technology learning for people who don’t want average careers. And we’re looking for a Learning Designer who feels the same way about learning. About Us Tiro is a leading training provider for science and technology apprenticeships. We’ve been helping hungry apprentices to join ambitious businesses since 2005. At Tiro, we really believe that great apprenticeships help everyone. Because there are remarkable apprentices out there just waiting to be found, and fantastic employment opportunities waiting to be filled. But our work will never be just about getting bums on seats and pocketing our commission. In our own small way, we’re helping to change the world — tackling skills shortages, building capability and helping businesses grow through people. We’re proud to be playing our part in making that happen, and we’re looking for more like-minded people to join team Tiro.

The Role

Content alone doesn’t change behaviour. Learning does. In this role, you’ll be OBSESSED with designing and building digital learning experiences for Industrial Science education that actually work. Learning that engages, challenges, and transfers into the workplace. You won’t just “build content”. You’ll shape it. Challenge it. Improve it. As a Learning Content Designer, you’ll work alongside Subject Matter Experts and our Product Manager to turn complex science and technical knowledge into structured, engaging digital learning. You’ll design scalable, repeatable digital learning experiences such as e-learning and teaching aids/presentations that are not one-off assets, they grow with the business and deliver real impact for learners and employers. You’ll use technology, creativity and learning science to bring content to life, experimenting with tools, AI and new approaches to continuously raise the bar for what great learning looks like.

About You

We don't believe in an itemised list of requirements to work at Tiro - we're looking for someone who has the the right attitude and aptitude Who knows their own mind and isn’t afraid to have a strong opinion Who likes to work under their own steam and doesn’t want or need to be micromanaged. Who gets a thrill from helping some of Britain’s best businesses grow And who’s genuinely passionate about the worlds of science and technology

You’re someone who takes pride in building learning that works in the real world. You might come from learning design, instructional design or digital learning, but what matters most is how you think and how you work. You’ll be a confident, experienced Learning Content Designer who can own the full process end-to-end, from shaping requirements to building and iterating high-quality learning. Curious and constantly learning. You’ll be a self-confessed “learning nerd” who explores new tools, technologies and ideas (especially AI) to improve how learning is designed. Commercial in your thinking. You’ll design scalable, repeatable learning experiences that drive impact, not just completion. Highly organised and able to manage multiple projects. You’ll use data, feedback and insight to continuously improve what you build. You’re confident using technology. Not just to build learning, but to improve, scale and future-proof it. You’ll be open to feedback and challenge, always looking to raise the bar for yourself, your team and the learning you create You care about quality. You care about impact. And you want to build learning that actually makes a difference.

About Tiro

We're Tiro (pronounced ‘Tea-ro’ as in white, two sugars).

In Latin, it means novice, recruit, apprentice, beginner and soldier. The perfect name for a company that’s been helping fearless apprentices to join ambitious businesses since 2005.

We believe that great apprenticeships help everyone. There are remarkable apprentices out there just waiting to be found, and fantastic employment opportunities waiting to be filled.

Our work will never be just about getting bums on seats and pocketing our commission. In our own small way, we’re helping to change the world – finding people that are working on COVID vaccines, finding new ways for technology to help humanity and helping to tackle the big issues of the day, like climate change. As well as helping people – young and old – to find their way.

Tiro’s proud to be playing our part in making that happen, and we can’t wait to find out what happens next…
