Role Summary

Are you passionate about supporting learners from enrollment to graduation? Do you have strong communication and storytelling skills that help you engage and motivate learners? Are you analytical, curious, and comfortable tracking progress and interpreting data to improve outcomes?

ALX Africa is seeking a motivated Learning Community and Hub Ops Intern in Kenya to support learners throughout their program journey while also maintaining a safe, well run hub environment. The role combines learner engagement responsibilities with day to day hub operations, working closely with the wider team to ensure program success.

Specific Responsibilities

Learner Support and Community Engagement

• Provide timely support and guidance to learners throughout their ALX program journey
• Assist with onboarding activities to help learners successfully start their courses
• Track learner progress, identify challenges, and proactively offer solutions
• Support data collection and reporting on learner milestones and program outcomes
• Facilitate communications and engagement campaigns across multiple channels
• Collaborate with mentors, program managers, and other stakeholders to coordinate learner support
• Assist with organizing learning events, webinars, and workshops to drive community engagement
• Contribute ideas to improve learner experience processes and systems
• Support any other activities that advance learner or community engagement

Hub Operations and Stakeholder Management

• Maintain strong relationships with key hub stakeholders and partners
• Ensure hub cleanliness, safety, and operational standards through weekly inspections
• Coordinate and meet with hub support staff to ensure alignment, track delivery on duties, and surface any challenges
• Ensure hub access, maintenance, and repairs are handled promptly
• Maintain a safe, clean environment for learners and the wider ALX community
• Collect monthly feedback from the ALX community on areas for improvement
• Ensure hub property and assets are well maintained, reporting any repairs or breakages promptly
• Liaise with service providers and maintain records of services rendered and related payments for reporting

Skill Requirements - Essential

• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to engage and motivate learners from diverse backgrounds
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Problem solving mindset, able to work independently and collaboratively
• Proficiency with common digital tools (Google Workspace, Slack, Zoom, etc.)
• Data analysis skills to interpret learner attendance and progress reports

Skill Requirements - Preferable

• Previous experience in education support, customer service, or learner engagement
• Experience managing social media communities or digital learning platforms
• Basic understanding of program or project management tools
• Exposure to data visualization tools (e.g., Google Data Studio, Power BI)

Employment Type

This role is an in person internship position.

Due to the considerable amount of virtual working and interaction with colleagues and customers in different physical locations internationally, it is essential that the successful applicant has the drive and ethic to succeed working in small teams physically but in larger efforts virtually. Self-drive to communicate constantly using web collaboration and video conferencing is essential. As an intern, you will be encouraged to continually develop your capability & attain certifications to reflect your growth as an individual.
