POSITION SPECIFICS

The Learning Center Success Specialist develops, implements, assesses, and promotes academic support programs designed to improve student retention, academic achievement, and graduation outcomes. This position coordinates Learning Center operations, including tutoring recruitment, training, scheduling, program assessment, academic coaching as well as supplemental disability services and consultation.

The Specialist engages directly with students to identify academic needs, makes targeted referrals, monitors student progress, and designs interventions to support success. This role fosters inclusive and responsive learning environments, collaborates with faculty and campus partners, and uses data-informed strategies to enhance program effectiveness and student engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Student success and academic support
  • Learning Center coordination and Tutoring Program management
  • Program development, evaluation, and data-informed practices
  • Academic coaching
  • Disability Services support
  • Collaboration and campus partnerships with faculty and campus resources to enhance student learning assistance experiences
  • Outreach, engagement, and communication of Learning Center programs and initiatives
  • Development, implementation, and evaluation of special programs and initiatives aimed at enhancing student academic success

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in higher education, counseling, education, or related field plus 3 years relevant experience.
  • Experience with tutoring program coordination, academic support services, and/or student success programming.
  • Education, training, and demonstrated knowledge of ADA and Section 504 as related to disability services and accommodations in higher education.
  • Familiarity and experience with student development and learning theories as applied to student assistance programs and program development.
  • Experience with academic coaching initiatives, including time management, study skills, and learning strategies

MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS

Master's Degree
3+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted

BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES

This position requires the following clearances in addition to applicable background checks: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check.Penn State does not sponsor or take over sponsorship of a staff employment Visa. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S.

SALARY & BENEFITS

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $46,400.00 - $67,300.00.
