The Georgetown Learning Center (GLC) is King County Children, Youth and Young Adults Division’s (CYYAD) Reengagement Center focused on careers in the Trades. The GLC provides case management and education services to young people ages 16-24 years with focus on transitioning students to post-secondary pathways specifically in pre-apprenticeship and apprenticeship programs, training, and employment services. The Georgetown Learning Center is a part of the Seattle College network and is one of four Reengagement Center’s operated by CYYAD. The three other sites are YouthSource Tukwila, Learning Center Seattle at Seattle Central College and Center for Education and Career Opportunity at Shoreline Community College.
This position will serve as the Employment Readiness Specialist/Occupational Education and Training Coordinator (OETC) at Georgetown Learning Center. The Employment Readiness Specialist positions provide job readiness training to CYYAD participants and plan, develop, coordinate, implement and evaluate trainings and participant preparation. Work includes assisting young adults to identify career interests, develop resumes and cover letters, understand how to complete applications, understand how to interview for employment, and provide experiential learning opportunities such as job site tours, career panels, and more. This position will also span across the CYYAD reengagement centers and support the development of internship sites. The GLC site is specifically centering trades to family supporting wages. This position will also support the Youthworks initiative for the GLC site to support the network wide initiative for youth summer internships. This is a highly skilled instructional and administrative position working in partnership with the Case Management Team—reporting directly to the site Director for day-to-day operations.
This recruitment is to fill two Term-Limited Temporary (TLT) position that are anticipated to end after 24 months. The first position will be located at Georgetown Learning Center (GLC) 6737 Corson Ave S, Seattle, WA 98108 and the second position will be located at YouthSource Tukwila Learning Center 645 Andover Park West, Tukwila, WA 98188. If filled by a King County employee who has passed their initial probation, the TLT will be as a Special Duty Assignment (SDA).
