Job Description

The Product Development (PD) Learning & Development Sr. Specialist must be an independently driven person who has a proven background in building educational/training structures from the ground up. The role authors, develops, reviews, releases, and delivers curricula to all areas of PD Team in our Duluth, Arizona, and Texas locations. The role enhances the competencies of individual employees by designing and conducting process and training programs that will boost employee’s workplace performance in alliance with company’s core values. The essential objective is to provide our team members with a solid understanding in the application of policies, procedures, and best practices in engineering design, FAA certification, and program management. This role owns enterprise-level and rotational development programs, provides advanced facilitation of technical content, and drives strategic alignment of learning initiatives. This position requires a professional with a strong background in instructional design, adult learning, graphic design as well as competency in organization development and LMS administration.

Duties and Responsibilities/Essential Functions

  • Collaborates with PD leadership, L&D team members across company, subject matter experts, and stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate deliverables.
  • Consult subject matter experts to determine needs and elicit content.
  • Develops and revises programs related to Product Development processes; the policies/procedures/best practices of engineering design, FAA certification, and program management.
  • Owns design, execution, and continuous improvement of rotational development programs.
  • Facilitates advanced and technical sessions across Product Development and cross-functional areas.
  • Builds annual training program and prepare teaching plans.
  • Designs, develops, and produces training materials including printed, visual, and electronic media.
  • Develops eLearning curriculum and content using appropriate authoring tools.
  • Coaches SMEs and junior L&D staff on content development and facilitation.
  • Delivers training content.
  • Periodically review and update content to ensure that they reflect any changes.
  • Assesses training effectiveness to ensure incorporation of taught skills and techniques into employees work behavior.
  • Stays abreast of the new trends and tools in employee development.
  • Supports LMS strategy and administration in partnership with L&D team.
  • Supports administration of other forums for learning such as topical communities-of-practice.

  • 6 years’ related experience
  • BS or BA degree (preferably in a technical, training, or lean discipline)
  • Knowledge of instructional design theory and learning principles.
  • Knowledge of training methods, tools and techniques, including those applicable to instructor-led and self-paced, virtual and face-to-face, synchronous and asynchronous.
  • Adequate knowledge of learning management software.
  • Familiarity with talent management and succession planning.
  • Demonstrated competency transforming subject matter expert interviews into content.
  • Analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills, including the ability to comprehensively analyze and interpret policies, procedures and situations in a multifaceted way and possess strong problem-solving skills to develop innovative solutions to complex issues.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills including ability to communicate process and training related content to groups and individuals.
  • Proficiency in MS Office software.
  • Ability to present complex information to a variety of audiences.
  • Ability to use Learning Management Systems
  • Able to perform classroom training: virtual and live environments.
  • Ability to establish project plans, regularly monitor and track progress on work projects, and ensure appropriate communications with project partners.
  • Must be able to demonstrate the ability to read, write and speak the English language.
  • Experience with PTC Windchill is preferred.
  • Experience with UKG LMS is preferred.
  • Experience with one or more of the following software iSeries, Solumina, ERP, Creo, Visio, Azure, Articulate 360, Canva is preferred.
