PAY RATE: $81761.15 - $86064.37 Per Year

AND PURPOSE

As part of the Learning & Development team, the Learning & Development Specialist II conducts training and performs training design, development, utilization, and evaluation of processes and resources for learning, primarily for all levels of leadership and staff throughout the organization. The Learning & Development Specialist II shall develop courses and training materials such as teaching manuals and student guides, in close coordination with the Manager – Learning and Development as well as Program and Department leadership. Uses varied learning methodologies including classroom training, blended learning, job aids, experiential learning, and e-learning.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct training events and programs, both off-the-shelf and developed in-house, for organizational leadership and front-line employees (all levels)
    • Conduct needs assessments for various VOALA programs and departments
    • Conduct learner analyses to match training materials to identified needs
    • Design curricula and training materials to address identified needs
  • Design and Development Tasks
    • Develop instructional materials
    • Evaluate and assess instruction and its impact.
  • Conduct organization-wide training events and programs
    • Instructor-led training
    • Train-the-Trainer
  • Prepare Training materials, provides training logistics, prepare classroom or other training venues
  • Other tasks as may be required to support organization’s learning and development

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • An essential function of this position requires incumbents to report to the office.
  • Instructional Design Planning and Analysis

    • Conduct needs assessments

    • Conduct learner analyses
  • Create and choose instructional material, create instruction content
  • Facilitate training, Train-the-Trainer, and deliver training programs throughout VOALA.
  • Evaluates training, seek and incorporate feedback
  • Executes and oversees logistics of training, such as scheduling, announcements, technology needs, etc. – including supporting HR Program’s internal training
  • Other duties as required and is subject to change at any time.

MANDATED REPORTER

As service providers to the underprivileged and vulnerable in our community, all employees are considered Mandated Reporters, and must report any instance of physical or sexual abuse to proper authorities.

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to pass a fingerprint clearance, background check, including criminal history, personal references, employment and education verifications

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Instructional Design, Communication, Education, or similar discipline, or equivalent relevant experience (4 years)

EXPERIENCE:

  • Two years of experience designing instruction or another similar role.
  • Three years’ previous experience as a trainer, corporate training specialist, or related position.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience working as a member of an HR team.
  • Familiarity with social services and related issues.
  • Experience working with learning management systems (LMS).
  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
  • Change management experience.
