He whakamārama mō te tūranga mahi | About the role:

As a Leading Hand Structures, you will lead from the front, providing practical guidance and day-to-day supervision to a team delivering maintenance, repairs and renewals across KiwiRail’s structures network. This is a hands-on leadership role where you will balance planning, organising and coaching your team while continuing to contribute technically on site.

You will also:

• Lead and participate in structures maintenance, repair, and renewal work
• Plan and coordinate daily work programmes and resources
• Promote a strong safety culture and respond to hazards and defects
• Support training, coaching and competency verification of team members
• Maintain accurate work records and compliance documentation
• Build positive relationships with contractors, clients, colleagues, and members of the public

Ngā pukenga e rapu nei mātou | What you will bring:

• For current employees, Senior Structures Maintainer experience and relevant structures competencies will be highly regarded
• For external applicants, from carpentry, construction, civil infrastructure or maintenance environments with experience leading teams and delivering quality outcomes are advantageous
• Previous experience leading, supervising or supporting a work crew
• Strong planning and organisational skills
• Confidence communicating with a wide range of people
• Basic computer skills and experience completing work records/ reports
• A safety-focused approach and commitment to the wellbeing of others

It would be useful if you also have:

• A relevant carpentry qualification or trade background
• Advanced Structures training
• Class 2 New Zealand Driver Licence
• Other licenses relevant to the role
