Metroll is one of Australia's leading manufacturers and suppliers of steel building products, servicing residential, commercial, industrial, and rural markets across the country.

We're looking for an experienced Leading Hand – Machine Operator to join our Lismore team. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll combine your machine operating expertise with the ability to support, guide, and motivate the production team to achieve safe, efficient, and high-quality outcomes.

This is a full-time position, working Monday to Friday from 9:54 AM to 6:00 PM.

About the Role

As the Leading Hand – Machine Operator, you'll play a key role in the day-to-day operation of our manufacturing facility. You'll operate roll-forming and production equipment while assisting the Production Supervisor in coordinating workflow, supporting team members, and ensuring production targets are achieved safely and efficiently.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced machine operator ready to take the next step into a leadership role.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate roll-forming and manufacturing equipment safely and efficiently
• Lead by example and support the daily activities of the production team
• Assist with coordinating workflow to meet production schedules and customer deadlines
• Monitor product quality and ensure all products meet company standards
• Support the training and development of new and existing team members
• Promote and maintain a strong safety-first culture
• Identify opportunities to improve productivity and reduce downtime
• Assist with machine setup, troubleshooting, and basic maintenance
• Work closely with the Production Supervisor to achieve operational goals
• Maintain a clean, organised, and safe work environment

About You

• Previous experience operating machinery within a manufacturing environment
• Experience in a Leading Hand, Team Leader, or senior machine operator role is highly regarded
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
• Ability to lead, motivate, and support a production team
• Commitment to workplace safety and quality
• Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
• Reliable, proactive, and willing to lead by example
• Forklift licence is advantageous but not essential
