Job Description

Are you passionate about planning great events to grow and develop young leaders in who they are, their faith and their practical leadership skills?

Here at CYC – Christian Youth Camps, a significant part of our ministry is not just to our campers and families, but also the opportunity that we have to develop our emerging adult leaders in their faith, leadership and who they are. The temporary community of camp offers a context with which to build a depth of relationship, as well as an opportunity for expedited growth through hands on, action reflection style leadership learning.

Whether it is through leading on camp or engaging with our training events, resources and content, our desire is for leaders to leave their camp experience better equipped in who they are, their faith and their leadership. Through this, we seek to better equip leaders to serve in their local church, school, university or workplace, as well as in the rest of life.

Through this two-day-a-week role, you will work with our Leadership Development Coordinator to plan and implement a range of leadership events, as well as our annual EQUIP Leadership camp. These events are aimed at both our existing leadership base of over 400 active volunteers and also resourcing other ministries and seeking to engage those considering leadership.

About us:

As the ministry department of Christian Youth Camps, CYC Ministries facilitates over 50 camps and events for young people, families and leaders held across our six campsites across Victoria and Tasmania. Whilst our Christian faith is at the core of what we do, CYC camps and events extend to young people and families from a diverse range of backgrounds aiming to encourage campers to develop new skills, grow in their confidence, create life-long memories as well as engage in Christian input and discuss issues around life and faith.

Key areas of focus of the role include:

  • Responsibility for the recruitment and leadership of a volunteer team to plan and implement the Victorian leadership events, including worship, social and training events.
  • Oversight and vision over our annual Equip Leadership Camp
  • Working with the Leadership Development Coordinator to develop relationships with churches and other ministries to both engage them in existing events, but also serve them through other training opportunities
  • Responsibility for managing communication with CYC leaders through email and social media

This job is a great fit for you if:

  • You align yourself with CYC's Motivation & Values
  • You have a mature and consistent faith with active involvement in a Christian community
  • You have a passion for developing young leaders in their faith, who they are as well as in their practical leadership
  • You have a proven ability to run events
  • You have previous experience in equipping and leading teams

You will need:

  • Drivers licence
  • Working with Children Check
