The purpose of this position is accountable for supervision, coordination, and timely shipment of customer orders and outgoing and incoming materials in compliance with requirements and to meet Company goals. Assigns work to Shipping personnel.

Essential Functions:

  • Schedule daily shipments, assign required personnel, and procure necessary support services to effect timely shipment in compliance with customer requirements and ATI Forged Products procedures.
  • Supervise hourly personnel to maintain and improve productivity. Coordinate material handling and manpower allocation in Shipping to control cost and provide uninterrupted flow of material in the plant and maximize efforts to meet customer delivery schedules.
  • Monitor work in process and stored in Shipping and manpower and equipment requirements.
  • Audit packaging and loading operation to insure proper identity, compliance with procedures and customer requirements.
  • Negotiate and implement carrier pricing contracts to effect most economical transportation consistent with service required by ATI Forged Products customers. Provide freight rate and transportation recommendations to other Departments in support of Company and Departmental goals.
  • Encourage and implement modern physical distribution techniques, inventory control systems through computerization and automated systems.
  • Audit performance of personnel to rate efficiency and develop improved methods and procedures. Provide necessary support to insure continued compliance to ISO 9001:2000/AS9100A.
  • Develop, monitor and upgrade packaging procedures to utilize most cost-effective method. Monitor customer packaging specifications and requirements. Monitor inventory of packaging materials and customer containers.
  • Maintain high level of communication within and outside departments to determine level of service required and provided. Disseminate information by periodic memos, meetings to promote involvement.
  • Direct and implement company Safety Program and enforce compliance to standards for buildings and equipment to provide safe and reliable working atmosphere.
  • Conduct or assist in evaluation of Notice of Deviation (NOD) cause and corrective action.
  • Provide data required for Management reports.
  • Provide input to ATI Corporate as member of ATI Logistics Team

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Working knowledge of transportation, shipping, packaging, and material handling processes.
  • Experience coordinating shop operations to support on-time material movement and shipments.
  • Working knowledge of computer scheduling and inventory control systems.
  • Ability to interpret commerce regulations and business-related reports.
  • Strong human relations, leadership, and communication skills.

Preferred

  • 5-7 years of supervisory experience
  • Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Knowledge of inventory management and logistics coordination best practices.
  • Experience with shipping compliance and transportation regulations.
  • Familiarity with ERP, warehouse management, or inventory control software systems.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet production/shipping deadline
