Purpose

TheLeadWindHubTechnician is a critical and active roleto maintainoptimalfunction and output at the wind siteby working daily on turbine operations,planning,requiredmaintenance, safety, quality control,warranty repair(s)and customer service TheLeadWind Technician partners and communicates with the Site Manager toexecute oncontract requirements and timelines and ensures alignment with GE excellence! The Wind Technician position requires local travel within the hub.

Essential Responsibilities

As theLeadWindHubTechnician – WindHubName, you will:

  • WorkwithHubManagerto execute contractual obligationsper customer requirementsand activities set forth withon a daily basis,which include anyportionof the electrical and mechanical equipment used in the GE wind turbinegenerator

  • Perform maintenance,repairor replacement of parts to correct malfunctions

  • Troubleshoot complexmechanical, hydraulic, and electrical problems on variable pitch&variable speed turbines

  • Supportin all areas of site operations as directed by manager with minimal supervisionincluding daily schedulesandplanning, supporting tech development, overall siteleadershipand customer service

  • Perform some diagnostic electrical analysis

  • Document all work performed usingcomputer basedservice reporting procedures

  • Work with and respond to GE’s remote operations center when necessary

Qualifications/Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED;and

  • Passing a Technical Knowledge Assessment, and

  • Internal;2+ year work experience as a Wind Technician, or

  • External;4+yearsofelectricaland leadership work experience.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have andmaintaina valid driver’s license

  • Handle repetitive weightof ~50lbs, andclimb towers up to 300 feetdaily

  • Meetspecified manufacturerweight limitsnot to exceed300lbsincluding required gear.

  • Understand electrical schematic drawings,technical manuals, procedures, and regulations

  • Ability and willingness to work in range of environments to include but not limited to industrial facilities, manufacturing facilities, and power industry facilities

  • Flexibility to workrotatingshift schedules, andon-callper site needs

  • Customer service experience with effectivecommunicationskills

  • The Wind Technician position requires local travel within the hub

Desired Characteristics

  • Associate’s orBachelor’sDegree in a Technical, Electrical, or Electronics field from an accredited college or university

  • Technical Certification in Wind Energy or Electrical / Electronic field

  • Abilityto work with a wide variety of personnel at all levels inside and outside of the Wind Farm

  • Wind turbine experience

  • Ability and willingness to take initiative, and work without direct supervision

  • Electrical, mechanical, and/or hydraulic experience

  • Experience using hydraulic power tools

  • Experience with heavy equipmentrequiredfor facility maintenance with a working knowledge of crane and rigging requirements

Please note: This is not a remote or travel position. The work location for this position includes all wind sites within Texas Hub 1. You are expected to work at all sites within this Hub and report to work at any site within this Hub as assigned by your manager.
