Job Description

Position Summary:

Penske Logistics is looking for warehouse associates to become part of our Elite Travel team. This is a great opportunity for safety-conscious individuals who have a pleasant, outgoing attitude and want to excel in a warehouse environment. Provide training support and some supervision to regular and temporary warehouse associates. Works closely with Operations Supervisors to ensure employee productivity expectations are met. Provides a variety of responsibilities to meet the supervisors’ expectations.

Compensation:

Lead Warehouse Worker will be paid a base hourly rate of $20.00/hour

Training:

The successful candidate will complete training at their home warehouse location for up to 90 days prior to any travel taking place and must maintain an acceptable attendance and performance record during that training period. Training will consist of material handling equipment, RF systems, picking, packing, loading and various other warehouse functions.

Travel Expectations and Additional Compensation:

  • Associates will be paid an additional $5.00 per hour while working on a travel assignment.
  • Upon successful completion of training, when working at home location, compensation will include a $2.00 differential per hour
  • Travel Assignments will be 1 to 3 weeks minimum
  • Must spend 75% of time at travel sites providing support
  • Local work might not be available during the 25% of time at home.

o If this happens, the home week will be unpaid or PTO can be taken, if available.

  • Meal expenses covered during travel assignments
  • Department will pay for Air Travel, Rental Cars and Hotels. Incidental expenses, such as rental car fuel expenses will be paid by the associate and reimbursed.
  • Associate will be expected to drive to sites in their personal vehicle for assignments < 300 miles one-way

Major Responsibilities:

  • Assist with training new Warehouse Worker associates, including all material handling equipment types and Penske Logistics RF systems
  • Communicate in a professional manner with Team and Customer(s)
  • Unloading, checking, put away, picking, loading, audit, value-added services and various other special projects
  • Safe and responsible operation of assigned equipment
  • • Reliable and consistent attendance (cannot accrue more than three attendance points in a 12-month rolling period)
  • Ensuring compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws and regulations.

Qualifications

  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License and have reliable transportation to get to/from work locations that are within 300 miles of home warehouse.
  • Ability and willingness to work any shift, or job assignment to include, but not limited to; heavy touch product, case picking in ambient or freezer / cooler room environments.
  • Must be able to learn Penske’s systems (i.e., Scanning)
  • Will be trained on relevant material handling equipment and required to pass certification test, if not already certified.
  • Willingness to travel up to 75% nationally (3 weeks on and 1 week off)
  • Reliable and customer oriented
  • Safety oriented
  • Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job
  • Willingness to travel as necessary, work the required schedule and work at the specific location required
  • Must have the ability to communicate in English verbally and in writing

This position is designated as safety sensitive by the company, requiring the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner. Associates must have the ability to accept responsibility for their own safety, as well as the safety of others. Furthermore, due to nature of associates being required to travel and often work without direct supervision by their manager, professional behavior is required at all times. Failure to adhere to these guidelines will result in being held accountable, including removal from the Elite team or corrective counseling/separation from the organization in accordance with company policy.

The associate is frequently required to use hands to touch, handle, and feel, and to reach with hands and arms. The associate must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50lbs/23kg and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100lbs/45kg.
