Position Overview

The Lead Warehouse Attendant supports daily warehouse operations while also performing the full scope of duties typical of a Warehouse Attendant. In this role, they contribute to inventory control, shipping and receiving, and warehouse organization. They also provide informal guidance to team members and help ensure operational efficiency, accuracy, and safety across warehouse activities. Their work directly supports the company’s ability to deliver great-tasting Community Coffee to customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supports the supervisor with warehouse operational tasks, helping manage daily activities and workflows.
  • Assists with warehouse layout planning, factoring in item turnover, size, and weight.
  • Analyzes inventory records to identify slow-moving, obsolete, or excess stock and recommends corrective actions.
  • Reviews documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance with company procedures; verifies adequacy of stock levels.
  • Schedules and support the execution of special and periodic inventories.
  • Investigate inventory discrepancies and traces item history, recommending solutions to management.
  • Provides on-the-job support, guidance, and informal training to other Warehouse Attendants.
  • Coordinates outbound shipments to ensure timely and accurate delivery to customers.
  • Contributes input on work procedures and schedules to improve warehouse efficiency.
  • May oversee daily shipping and receiving activities, depending on the location, and ensure load boards are executed in a timely manner.
  • May manage warehouse organization based on WMS (Warehouse Management System) picking and put-away strategies.
  • May manage receipt of purchased goods, verifying quantities and quality, and completing related paperwork and system transactions.
  • May lead daily team meetings to share safety updates and operational information.
  • Performs all core warehouse duties, including loading and unloading, order auditing, stacking products, conducting inventory counts, and operating forklifts or pallet jacks.
  • May be asked to perform additional duties as necessary

Position Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred; passing score on an aptitude test required in lieu of diploma.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety procedures, manuals, and related documentation.
  • Skilled in operating forklifts, hoists, and hand/power tools; knowledge of industrial and mechanical terminology.
  • Familiar with CFR 110, current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), and AIB food safety standards.
  • SAP or WMS experience preferred.
  • Must successfully complete a pre-employment physical.
  • Internal Only: Experience with Community Coffee, even if unrelated, may fulfill this requirement at the discretion of the hiring manager with approval from Human Resources

  • Field Sales Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts; in high, precarious places; and in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles; The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but may be moderately loud in warehouse areas.
