The Lead Virtual Monitor Tech provides support for the Virtual Monitoring Unit and Medical Observers through the effective coordination of technician/medical observer tasks and responsibilities throughout the shift. Actively maintains an environment that is conducive to patient monitoring and prioritizes patient safety. Identifies barriers related to patient monitoring and safety and promptly takes the appropriate actions needed to escalate concerns. Actively seeks ways to maintain effective workflow, promote team collaboration, and prioritize the safety of the patients.
Licensure or other certifications:
Educational Requirements: High School Diploma
Minimum Experience: One year of relevant clinical experience in a health care setting.

Proficiency in all areas of Technician-Virtual Monitoring Unit Medical Observer job responsibilities
Comprehension and comfort with computers, audiovisual equipment, and advancing technology
Ability to organize and prioritize workload
Demonstrates ability to effectively lead and encourage staff
Functions as Virtual Monitoring Technician and Medical Observer as needed
Confirms need to initiate or discontinue virtual monitoring or bedside monitoring with shift primary nurse.Promptly initiates or discontinues virtual monitoring of patients via the hub.
Coordinates and provides break coverage for the virtual monitor technicians.
Recognizes when concerns or barriers should be escalated to nursing leadership.
Communicates with nursing leadership to identify and request support in overcoming barriers related to patient safety and monitoring.
Listens to concerns from staff and effectively communicates with the charge nurses of the nursing units to determine a resolution, as appropriate.
Reviews patients being monitored by VMU and sends a shift report to the individual nursing units.
Ensures all equipment is working appropriately. Reports equipment issues promptly
Report and request support from the IT help desk or third party contractor for support in resolving technical issues.
Maintains an organized environment that prioritizes patient safety and promotes staff collaboration.
Provides effective hand off to the next Lead Technician, including any issues or concerns that have been identified.
Confirms that each technician has given effective hand off report prior to leaving.
