Mission Technologies, a division of HII, is currently seeking a Lead United States Air Force Weapons School (USAFWS)/command and control (C2) Certified Flight Controller to support mission planning and provide simulated and live aircraft C2 mission execution in support of the USAF Weapons School syllabus at Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • You will lead a small team of up to five controllers directing and controlling military aircraft operations using advanced command and control systems.
    • Build and deconflict the schedule to ensure mission coverage; ensure crew rest requirements are strictly maintained to ensure safe operations.
    • Provide administrative oversight to the team
  • Work alongside Active Duty counterparts in direct support to the 8th Weapons Squadron
  • Develop, coordinate, and execute tactical plans for air operations in support of joint and coalition missions.
  • Maintain real-time situational awareness of the operational environment by monitoring radar, sensors, data links, and communications systems.
  • Manage the air battlespace by coordinating aircraft routing, deconfliction, identification, and engagement priorities.
  • Coordinate with pilots, intelligence personnel, ground commanders, and allied partners to synchronize operations and achieve mission objectives.
  • Monitor and evaluate threats, recommend courses of action, and execute tactical responses to changing battlefield conditions.
  • Ensure compliance with rules of engagement, airspace control measures, and applicable operational directives.
  • Conduct mission planning, briefing, execution, debriefing, and after-action reviews to improve operational effectiveness.
  • Supervise and mentor USAFWS cadre and students.
  • Develop and update operational tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) based on lessons learned and evolving mission requirements.
  • Coordinate emergency procedures and respond to in-flight contingencies, aircraft emergencies, and dynamic operational situations.
  • Maintain mission documentation, shot validation, operational logs, and classified information in accordance with security regulations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 9 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 7 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 4 years relevant experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 13 years relevant experience.
  • Certified Flight controller with expert knowledge on Weapons School syllabus, mission briefings, and debriefings while identifying and reporting student trends to Phase Managers.
    • Former USAF Air Battle Manager or other DoD/DoW trained tactical air controller.
    • Must have or pass a USAF Form 8 checkride.
  • Valid Driver’s License required.
  • Ability to travel up to 2 weeks per year in direct support to USAFWS syllabus execution.
  • Active Top Secret Security Clearance; must be able to be read into the Weapons School Playlist.

Preferred Requirements

  • Leadership experience scheduling, coordinating and deconflicting flight schedules.
  • Strong communication and personnel management abilities.
  • Former USAF Weapons School graduate.
    • Preferred is a former USAF Weapons School instructor.
    • Other DoD/DoW service graduates of advanced tactics courses will also be prioritized.
    • Still current and qualified to control aircraft
  • USAF Weapons School Integration Phase experience
  • Experience with Nellis LFE operations, airspace, and control systems.
  • Experience with the USAF Weapons School syllabi and in-depth knowledge of how to achieve the syllabi Desired Learning Objectives to ensure syllabus completion for multiple platforms.
