ING Australia has embarked on an ambitious growth strategy to become Australia’s most loved mobile led bank. We are doing this by digitising customer experiences, differentiating with innovative products and safe, delivery excellence. Whenever we change, enhance or introduce new technology, systems, processes and services, threats can arise – and this is where our experienced Risk professionals come into their own.
ING Australia’s Non-Financial Risk Management (NFR) team is a second line of defence (2LOD) team sitting in the CRO function responsible for developing and managing the NFR framework: a mix of advisory and associated best-practice policies and procedures. The function is independent and segregated from business line management (1LOD). Our Technology Risk Management (TRM) team has a specialised focus on technology, cyber and data risks ensuring that they are appropriately identified, assessed and managed.
Due to an internal move, we have an opportunity for an experienced Technology Risk professional to lead the Technology Risk team continuing to build the Tech Risk capability, leading day to day delivery for our 2LOD Tech Risk as well as lead our Tech Risk NFR Strategy and Plans.
What you’ll do
Develop and own the 2LOD technology risk management plan that aligns with ING Australia’s goals, risk appetite and regulatory obligations.
Provide effective independent challenge to the 1LOD on the design and effectiveness of information risk controls around IT, cyber risk, data risk and IT resilience.
Advise senior management on risk‑based decision‑making related to technology, data and digital transformation.
Ensure consistent application of risk taxonomy, methodologies and control standards;
Providing expert advice and assurance on the implementation of the Non-financial Risk Management framework, and associated policies, procedures and control standards, focusing on Technology risks.
Provide clear, forward‑looking information risk insights to the Head of NFR Australia, CRO Australia and local risk and governance committees;
What we’re looking for
Thought leadership and extensive experience in Technology risk (IT, cyber and data risk).
Awareness of current industry technology threats, trends and issues.
Suitable qualifications: CISA or similar.
Expert knowledge of applicable regulations and supervisory expectations for Technology Risks (including APRA, DORA and ideally ECB).
Confidence and experience building trusted senior stakeholder partnerships across 1LOD & 2LOD, balancing independent challenge with outcome driven collaboration.
Experience preparing and presenting quality reporting aligned to governance and Board expectations.
