Responsible for notifying the Technician Services Supervisor of staffing ratio and requesting agency staff assistance (when needed) to ensure the unit staffing pattern is consistent with the census and needs of the unit.
Leads on-the-job training for all Behavioral Health (BHT) and Patient Safety Technician (PST) staff scheduled on the shift.
Assists Technician Services Supervisor with the day-to-day supervision of staff by managing daily duty assignments and reassigning duties in accordance with the needs of the unit.
Follows procedures for chain of custody for patient’s valuables placed in the safe; performing inventory checks every time the key for the safe changes hands.
Works to improve or maintain safety at the CRF.
Monitor, develop, and implement systems that will improve the responsibility, accountability, and integrity of BHT and PST; especially involving the care of patients and their belongings.
Attend and participate in leadership trainings, as needed.
Proactively manage risk at the CRF in cooperation with the nurses and physicians by assuring adequate coverage, evaluating risk, and communication of identified concerns.
Assists with patient care management and records progress toward treatment plan objectives using the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
Lead and monitor therapeutic groups and leisure and exercise activities. Record in EHR, as required.
Interacts respectfully and in a dignified manner with all patients, staff, visitors, etc.
Complete intake/admission process:
Security/safety checks.
Conduct search of patient and belongings for contraband.
Enter information into EHR.
Complete inventory of personal belongings.
Explain consents and other documents required during admission and get patient and/or guardian signatures, as needed.
Obtain and document vital signs.
Maintain general cleanliness of the unit, laundry, making beds, infection control routines, etc.
Redirect patient(s) behavior in a firm, yet respectful manner, participate in verbal-de-escalation, and work as a team to implement Handle with Care (HWC) non-violent interventions to fidelity, when needed to assist Patient Safety Technicians.
Responsible for maintaining patient confidentiality (HIPAA and 42-CFR).
Monitor patient behaviors and interactions.
Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent.
Minimum of one (1) years’ experience in behavioral health. Acute care experience preferred.
Ability to pass a level II Background clearance and drug test.
Valid FL drivers’ license, insurance, and safe driving record.
Dependable transportation (registered, safe operating conditions, etc.).
Must maintain high standards of ethical and professional conduct, while adhering to agency policies and procedures.
Ability to use a computer
Attention to detail
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, in collaboration with other community partners.
Ability to manage stressful situations and display appropriate work demeanor and boundaries.
Ability to demonstrate excellent customer service.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Stand/walk for duration of shift.
Lift 50 pounds.
Must be able to complete a satisfactory demonstration of physical ability to perform essential job duties designed solely to determine ability to perform physical duties, with or without reasonable accommodation, after acceptance of position.
Perform repetitive tasks, grip, bend, squat, crawl, reach above shoulder level, maneuver patients’ weight, etc.
