About the job

Google's projects, like our users, span the globe and require managers to keep the big picture in focus while being able to dive into the unique engineering challenges we face daily. As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you lead complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects using your engineering expertise. You plan requirements with internal customers and usher projects through the entire project lifecycle. This includes managing project schedules, identifying risks and clearly communicating them to project stakeholders. You're equally at home explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical trade-offs in product development with engineers.

Using your extensive technical and leadership expertise, you manage various Engineering-specific programs and teams.

The Fiber Infrastructure Engineering and Delivery team is a unified organization within Google Global Infrastructure, integrating the expertise of capacity infrastructure engineering, network infrastructure engineering, and fiber and capacity delivery. Our mission is to deliver the resilient long-haul and metro fiber assets and data center network space that power Google's global growth and AI leadership. We operate at the intersection of technology and global scale, ensuring Google’s network infrastructure is the most reliable and efficient on the planet.

In this role, you will travel approximately 25%, as needed, mostly to Google’s data centers around the globe.

Behind everything our users see online is the architecture built by the Technical Infrastructure team to keep it running. From developing and maintaining our data centers to building the next generation of Google platforms, we make Google's product portfolio possible. We're proud to be our engineers' engineers and love voiding warranties by taking things apart so we can rebuild them. We keep our networks up and running, ensuring our users have the best and fastest experience possible.

In this role, you will travel approximately 25%, as needed, mostly to Google’s data centers around the globe.

Responsibilities

  • Orchestrate program strategy across EMEA and APAC to drive consistency and economies of scale. Be able to strengthen alignment between technical requirements and business objectives by providing advanced insights facilitating executive decision-making.
  • Define requirements for the Google Global Network, designing data center infrastructure (space, power, cooling) and define new product deployment globally.
  • Manage complex relationships globally. Influence and collaborate with design engineering firms, carriers, internal engineering teams, and executives to solve large-scale network growth challenges.
  • Establish systems to identify and implement innovative solutions that optimize project delivery. Manage risks and drive improvements in lead-time, predictability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Lead a global team of technical program managers. Foster growth mindset and culture of learning, ensuring the team's skills are transferable across technical domains.
