ABOUT THE POSITION

Team Management:

  • Manage and mentor a team of technical artists.

  • Work with producer to assign workload, evaluate team members, and oversee career development.

  • Ensure team morale and retention through effective communication and management.

  • Recruit and develop a growing and stable team in collaboration with HR and department managers.

Technical Supervision:

  • Review technical documentation and define the art pipeline.

  • Serve as the main point of contact between art production and the client on technical issues.

  • Mentor and support technical artists on various projects, working to optimize content for multiple platforms.

  • Train art teams on best practices and tool usage.

Training and RnD:

  • Own and develop training curriculum for the team.

  • Mentor and supervise other Technical Artists as needed.

  • Provide training to other Technical Artists on specialized topics.

  • Research new workflows to improve production efficiency.

  • Stay current with new technology and its application in production.

  • Extensive experience with game art pipelines in Unreal, Unity, or a comparable modern game engine.

  • Strong communication and planning skills.

  • Proficiency in DCC software (Maya, 3DS Max, Blender), with knowledge of procedural modeling or rigging in Houdini a plus.

  • Intermediate knowledge of python and DCC scripting.

  • Good knowledge of revision control systems (Perforce, Git, SVN).

  • Game engine scripting experience using Blueprint or other.

  • Understanding of game loop and level streaming systems, animation systems, particle effects, and custom shaders.

  • Familiarity with Agile workflow and software architecture.

  • General MS Windows and IT troubleshooting skills such as DOS batch programming or Networking knowledge (e.g. windows, TCP/IP).

  • Understanding physically based rendering (PBR), lighting and shading.

  • Experience with middleware such as SpeedTree, Simplygon, FaceFX, Allegorithmic Substance, etc. is a plus.

Other requirements

  • Participation in or shipment of one or more games as a main technical artist.

  • Excellent written and spoken English skills, with the ability to clearly communicate ideas and technical knowledge.

  • Independent, proactive, and showing initiative.
