Lead Teacher (Preschool / Pre-K)

– The Goddard School® | Alexandria (Old Town), VA

The Goddard School® in Alexandria (Old Town) is seeking a strong, confident Lead Teacher for our Preschool / Pre-K classroom.

We are building a high-performing academic environment focused on school readiness, structured classrooms, and strong teacher support

This role is for a teacher who can lead a classroom, implement curriculum effectively, and prepare children for kindergarten success—while being supported by hands-on Program Managers who are actively involved in your success.

No nights. No weekends. Predictable schedule.


Compensation & Benefits

• $22 – $28 per hour, based on experience and classroom leadership
• $500 sign-on bonus
  • $250 after 60 days
  • $250 after 6 months

What You’ll Do

Classroom Leadership

• Lead a Preschool / Pre-K classroom with full ownership
• Establish strong routines, expectations, and classroom structure
• Maintain a well-managed, engaging learning environment

Curriculum & School Readiness (Core Focus)

• Implement curriculum aligned with early learning standards
• Focus on kindergarten readiness (literacy, math, social-emotional skills)
• Track, assess, and support each child’s development

Parent Communication (Critical)

• Build professional, trust-based relationships with families
• Clearly communicate progress and concerns
• Confidently address parent expectations

Health, Safety & Compliance

• Maintain full compliance with licensing standards
• Keep classroom organized and ready at all times
• Provide active supervision

What We’re Looking For

Required

• Experience teaching Preschool or Pre-K in a licensed setting
• Strong classroom management and leadership skills
• High reliability and professionalism
• Ability to run a structured classroom independently

Preferred

• CDA, Associate’s, or coursework in Early Childhood Education
• 2+ years of teaching experience
• Experience preparing children for kindergarten

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Active movement throughout the day
