[What the role is]
The Lead System-of-Systems Architect serves as a visionary technical leader within the CAAS Next Generation Programme Office, tasked with shaping the architectural direction and ensuring the successful delivery of the Next Generation Air Navigation Services (NexGen ANS) capability. This pivotal role requires not only deep expertise in System-of-Systems engineering and integration, but also the ability to operate at the intersection of technology, strategy, and stakeholder engagement. The architect will champion innovation, foster a collaborative culture among diverse stakeholders, maintain strict alignment with Whole-of-Government C3 strategies and regulatory frameworks, help build and strengthen ops-tech capability.
As the principal authority on systems integration, the Lead System-of-Systems Architect will drive the technical vision, coordinate cross-functional teams, and oversee the resolution of complex integration challenges spanning multiple vendors and agencies. Success in this role is measured by the seamless interoperability of mission-critical systems, timely risk mitigation, and the advancement of CAAS’s strategic objectives for resilient and future-ready air navigation services.
[What you will be working on]
Provide strategic technical leadership for the entire systems integration function within the NexGen Programme, drawing upon your extensive experience in complex systems architectures and large-scale systems integrations.
Responsible for establishing the overall System-of-Systems architecture and integration governance framework, ensuring seamless interoperability across multiple vendors and agencies.
Lead and mentor a team of integration specialists including the SoSI, providing technical guidance on mission-critical and real-time system requirements whilst managing senior-level stakeholder relationships across CAAS, industry partners, and other government agencies.
Develop integration strategies that address resilience requirements, managing the transition from traditional waterfall to agile methodologies where appropriate, and ensuring that cloud-based and on-premise system deployments are optimally integrated.
Drive capability development roadmaps, manage programme-level integration risks, and establish robust verification and validation frameworks across the entire System-of-Systems.
Collaborate closely with regulatory bodies and international partners to ensure compliance with evolving air navigation standards and best practices.
Continuously evaluate emerging technologies and integration trends, recommending innovative solutions to enhance operational efficiency, scalability, and security.
[What we are looking for]
Trained in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, with advanced degrees preferred.
Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in systems engineering, integration, and programme management, with demonstrated leadership in complex, mission-critical environments.
Proven track record in architecting and delivering large-scale, multi-vendor, and multi-agency system integration projects, preferably in the aviation or air navigation domain.
Strong understanding of contemporary integration technologies, cloud and hybrid deployments, cybersecurity, and regulatory standards.
Exceptional stakeholder management, communication, and team leadership skills, with the ability to influence and drive consensus among diverse technical and non-technical audiences.
Experience in developing and implementing agile methodologies in traditionally regulated or structured environments is highly desirable.
Commitment to continuous professional development and staying at the forefront of industry advancements.
