Systems Engineering is a cross-functional engineering discipline centered on an approach, mindset, and process that considers both the business and technical needs of customers, with the goal of providing quality products that meet user requirements. This role executes a robust process of design, creation, and optimization of systems — encompassing identification and quantification of system requirements, creation of alternate design concepts, performance of design trade studies, selection and implementation of best designs, and verification that designs are properly integrated and executed.
The role is responsible for departmental operations planning and execution, and is focused on the delivery of professional activities within a technical discipline. The individual functions with some autonomy, guided by established policies and review of end results. Modification of procedures and practices is permitted as long as end results meet defined standards of acceptability across quality, volume, and timeliness.
