Position Type: Full TimeJOB RESPONSIBLITIES:
1. Daily Operations & Oversight
a. Lead the surveillance room during assigned shifts; assign camera watch posts, breaks, and task priorities to Surveillance Officers.
b. Maintain continuous monitoring of the casino gaming floor, cage, count rooms, vault, kiosks/ATMs, high-limit areas, entrances/exits, BOH corridors, pavilion/events, lodge hallways/elevators, and parking lots.
c. Triage and escalate incidents (theft, cheating indicators, disputes, counterfeit, intoxication, underage, disorderly conduct, medical, severe weather) and coordinate with Security/Supervisors in real time.
d. Ensure discreet, unbiased, and professional observation aligned with internal controls and tribal gaming regulations.
2. Compliance, Integrity & Evidence
a. Enforce surveillance SOPs, internal controls (TICS/MICS), and retention rules for video and logs; report deviations immediately.
b. Direct the capture, tagging, export, and secure transfer of video for cases (guest incidents, Title 31 concerns, cash variances, patron disputes, employee matters).
c. Maintain chain-of-custody documentation: incident numbers, time marks, camera IDs, export hashes (when applicable), and requestor approvals.
d. Conduct weekly/monthly audits of random incidents to verify documentation and retention compliance; produce corrective actions where gaps exist.
3. Investigations & Analytics
a. Lead preliminary reviews into theft/fraud/cheating, counterfeit currency, suspicious activity (Title 31 behaviors), slip-and-fall claims, and HR matters; produce concise investigative summaries.
b. Use video timelines and camera maps to reconstruct incidents; identify persons/vehicles of interest; collaborate with Security on interviews and scene preservation.
c. Prepare actionable intelligence briefs (hot spots, repeat offenders, peak times, modus operandi) to support loss-prevention and staffing decisions.
4. Technical Systems — Operations & Administration
a. Serve as shift lead user for the VMS (Video Management System), encoders, recorders/NVRs, client workstations, matrix/keyboard controllers, and video walls.
b. Maintain and update camera location lists, naming conventions, camera health dashboards, and storage utilization snapshots.
c. Coordinate user access for Surveillance personnel (least-privilege model), keeping access logs and change records current.
5. Installations, Maintenance, and Repairs (Surveillance Technology) Preventive Maintenance (PM)
a. Perform or coordinate scheduled PM for cameras (clean/lens check, focus, angle verification), housings, mounts, PTZ functions, and IR illumination.
b. Validate recording health (bitrate, retention days), time sync (NTP), and failover status for NVRs/RAIDs/UPS.
6. Troubleshooting & Repair
a. Diagnose video loss, poor image quality, jitter, network drops, or VMS client issues; reseat connections, replace PoE injectors, patch cables, or camera power supplies as authorized.
7. Installation & Upgrades
a. Assist with camera installs (mounting, aiming, focusing), labeling, and documentation (as-builts, camera charts, IP address maps).
b. Support VMS upgrades/patches and acceptance testing; confirm camera streams, recording schedules, motion rules and user roles after updates.
8. Documentation
a. Maintain asset inventory (model/serial, firmware, MAC/IP, location) and change logs; update camera coverage diagrams and critical-camera lists.
9. Training, Coaching & Quality Assurance
a. Train new Surveillance Officers on: rules of observation, casino gaming basics, fixed/PTZ operation, note-taking, VMS use, bookmarking/tagging, evidence export, report writing, and confidentiality.
b. Create quick-reference guides and camera-map orientation for new hires; conduct check-rides and skill sign-offs.
c. Run refresher training on new cameras, analytics features, and updated SOPs; conduct scenario-based drills (cheating indicators, cash variance response, slip-and-fall playback).
d. Deliver QA feedback from video audits; coach for clarity, timeliness, and accuracy of reports.
10. Coordination with Security, Gaming, and External Agencies
a. Act as the primary shift liaison with Security (real-time radio coordination), Gaming Commission, Cage/Count, Slots, F&B, Hotel/Lodge, Pavilion events, and Quik Mart/Marina.
b. Support law enforcement requests within policy: verify legal authority/approvals, export and log evidence, and document disclosures; safeguard privacy and proprietary information.
11. Incident & Report Management
a. Ensure timely completion of Surveillance logs and Report Exec entries: incident synopsis, timeline, camera references, evidence exported, notifications made.
b. Verify that critical incidents (weapons, serious injury, in-custody events, CEW/TASER deployments, fire alarms, power failures, severe weather activations) are tagged and retained per policy.
12. Risk Management & Continuous Improvement
a. Identify blind spots and propose camera additions/re-aims; recommend policy updates and training to address recurring issues.
b. Track KPIs: incident response times, export SLA, audit pass rates, system uptime, camera health, and training completion.
13. Leadership & Professional Standards
a. Uphold confidentiality and access restrictions to the surveillance room.
b. Model impartiality, composure, and ethical conduct; handle sensitive personnel or guest matters with discretion.
c. Provide shift handoff briefings and ensure accurate pass-down notes.
d. Carry out additional tasks as directed by management.
QualificationsPREREQUISITES:
General: Must be age 21 or older. Must qualify for a Tribal Key gaming license. Must possess a valid state driver’s license.
Qualifications & Skills:
- High School diploma or GED is preferred but not mandatory.
- Ability to read and understand basic instructions.
- Capable of writing detailed incident reports and effectively communicating information to guests, vendors, and team members in both one-on-one and small group settings.
- Demonstrates sound judgment and common sense in following instructions presented in written, verbal, or visual formats.
- Skilled in identifying and resolving issues as they arise, using practical problem-solving and de-escalation abilities.
Experience: Preference will be given to candidates that have three year’s experience working as a casino surveillance officer, dispatcher, security or law enforcement. Prefer one year of information technology experience or college level course work. On-site training is required.
Physical: Requires standing, walking, bending. May be required to lift up to 30 pounds. Must have good vision (corrected to 20/20).
