
The Safety and Security Lead plays a key role in maintaining a safe, secure, and productive environment in a high-volume Distribution Center. This role coordinates day-to-day activities across weekend shifts to ensure consistent implementation of safety policies, incident response, and security protocols. Serving as the primary on-floor point of contact for employees and supervisors, this person must show strong initiative, high attention to detail, and a proactive mindset to identify areas of opportunity.
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Safety Duties
● Weekend Point of Contact: Act as the primary safety and security point of contact during assigned shifts.
● Incident Response: Respond promptly to safety incidents, medical events, and security issues.
● Investigation Quality: Guide accident investigations and ensure proper procedures are followed to increase the quality of documentation and root cause analysis.
● Observations & Coaching: Conduct regular floor safety observations and provide positive reinforcement or real-time coaching to associates.
● Compliance: Perform routine safety inspections and hazard assessments to ensure a compliant work environment.
● Emergency Coordination: Support emergency response procedures, including fire alarms, medical emergencies, and security threats.
Security Duties
● Investigations: Assist with investigations related to theft, workplace violence concerns, or policy violations.
● Access Control: Issue and deactivate access cards, manage badge supplies, and maintain control of campus keys.
● Systems Support: Support badge access issues, review camera footage when needed, and provide oversight for contract security guards.
● Site Programs: Manage the site’s parking program, vehicle registrations, and visitor sign-in process.
● Monitoring: Monitor security desk operations, video surveillance, fire/burglary alarms, and inbound/outbound trailer security.
Training, Collaboration & Culture
● Shift Support: Facilitate safety orientations and lead Safety Committee meetings as needed.
● Programs: Maintain safety communication boards and site incentive programs.
● Teamwork: Work closely with department co-workers to support training and development initiatives.
● Continuous Improvement: Take initiative to identify areas of opportunity and proactively make improvements to site safety and security.
Qualifications:
● Bilingual: Fluent in English & Spanish Required
● Education/Experience: High school diploma or equivalent required; Safety and/or security experience strongly preferred.
● Communication: Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
● Autonomy: Proven ability to work independently and make decisions under minimal supervision.
● Technical Skills: Proficiency with Google Suite; experience with Vector EHS, AccessIT, and Ava CCTV systems is a plus.
● Preferred Certifications: OSHA 10/30, CPR/First Aid.
