This position is responsible for providing leadwork direction to the tutor/mentors, as well as acting as a tutor/mentor to the high school students in grades 9-12 on the campus of Central Lakes College who attend the five week Upward Bound summer program designed to provide academic and cultural experiences that will support their goals of attending a postsecondary institution. Students live in a residence hall for five weeks during the summer program. This position is designed to provide students in secondary, post-secondary, and graduate study with employment that assists them in reaching identifiable educational goals.

Salary Range:

$19.85-$23.61/hr, $41,447-49,298annually

Minimum Qualifications

  • At least two years of post-secondary education.

  • Currently enrolled in secondary, post-secondary, or graduate study programs.

  • Knowledge of Upward Bound, residential hall, and/or camp counselor programming.

  • Ability to guide and direct work activities to achieve work area goals.

  • Ability to communicate effectively to develop and implement policies and procedures.

  • Successful completion of a background check.

Preferred Qualification

  • Desire to work with and relate to a disadvantaged population.

  • Knowledge of residential hall living.

  • Strong support of goals of the Upward Bound program.

  • Experience or current studies in tutoring, counseling, education, or a related field.

Other Requirements

  • Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a background check.

Work Shift (Hours / Days of work)

Approximately 8 hours/day, Sunday - Friday
