Job Description

What You Will Do:

  • Own programme delivery end to end, leading store renewals, new openings, relocations, PAI’s and closures from feasibility and stage gates through launch, 6week aftercare and postimplementation review, ensuring adherence to the People, Process, Product & Place framework.

  • Lead early and ongoing senior stakeholder engagement, influencing and aligning at Stage Gate 1–5, chairing key forums, managing governance and escalation, and removing barriers to protect customers, colleagues and sales.

  • Provide strong people leadership, line managing up to four Store Renewal Managers across Foods & FH&B; setting objectives, resourcing plans and operating rhythm, coaching performance and building longterm capability and succession.

  • Drive operational and commercial excellence, rolemodelling high standards on the sales floor and backstage, managing risk and cost, ensuring strong merchandising, availability and compliance with the M&S Way.

  • Embed continuous improvement, owning MI, benefits tracking, PIRs and aftercare, capturing insight and feeding learnings into future renewal plans to improve quality, pace and consistency across the store network.

Who You Will Be:

  • An experienced retail leader, with a strong technical understanding of Foods & FH&B operations and a proven track record of delivering complex store or transformation programmes at pace.

  • A confident influencer and communicator, able to challenge constructively, lead difficult conversations and inspire engagement from senior stakeholders through to large store teams.

  • Highly organised and commercially minded, using data, insight and sound judgement to prioritise effectively, manage risk and drive profitable outcomes.

  • Resilient, agile and customerfocused, staying composed under pressure, leading through change with clarity and empathy, and always representing the customer voice.

  • Flexible and detaildriven, comfortable with extensive UK travel and time away from home, an early adopter of new ways of working and technology, with strong attention to quality and standards.
