About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking A highly skilled Lead Senior Software Engineer specialising in Electronic Trading to join our dynamic team. As a Lead Senior Software Engineer, you will drive the design and evolution of the Spread Electronic Trading/Algo Trading platform, ensuring it delivers best-in-class performance and resiliency. You will lead development of pricing and quoting frameworks that enable traders and quants to rapidly model and deploy execution logic across Credit, Munis, and Structured Products. You will architect and optimise the ET platform, balancing low-latency components with scalable services to support strategy deployment, monitoring, and analytics. You will oversee ECN and exchange integration, ensuring robust market data handling,smart order routing, and efficient execution across venues. Finally, you will embed hedging logic andrisk management controls directly into the platform, delivering automated guardrails, real-time exposure monitoring, and compliance with regulatory standards, making this role central to both business growth and platform integrity.


In this role, you will:

  • Act as an advisor to leadership to develop or influence applications, network, information security, database, operating systems, or web technologies for highly complex business and technical needs across multiple groups
  • Lead the strategy and resolution of highly complex and unique challenges requiring in-depth evaluation across multiple areas or the enterprise, delivering solutions that are long-term, large-scale and require vision, creativity, innovation, advanced analytical and inductive thinking
  • Translate advanced technology experience, an in-depth knowledge of the organisations tactical and strategic Spread business objectives, the enterprise technological environment, the organisation structure, and strategic technological opportunities and requirements into technical engineering solutions
  • Provide vision, direction and expertise to leadership on implementing innovative and significant business solutions covering Credit, Muni and SPG products.
  • Maintain knowledge of industry best practices and new technologies and recommends innovations that enhance operations or provide a competitive advantage to the organisation
  • Strategically engage with all levels of professionals and managers across the enterprise and serve as an expert advisor to leadership
  • Design, develop, and maintain electronic trading systems to meet low-latency, high-throughput requirements for key eTrading components including order management, Market Data Aggregators, Executions, Offering, RFQs and FrontOffice Algo/Pricing/Hedging systems.
  • Collaborate with Traders, quants, and other stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Conduct performance analysis and optimisation to ensure low latency, high throughput, and efficient resource utilisation.
  • Lead and participate in code reviews, ensuring adherence to coding standards, best practices, and architectural guidelines.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure and operations teams to deploy and maintain trading systems in production environments, ensuring stability, resilience, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the reliability, scalability, and performance of electronic trading systems.
  • Participate in incident response and resolution, providing timely and effective support to address production issues.
  • Have experience working with global development teams
  • Implement pricing, quoting, hedging, and risk logic across spread products.
  • Have experience in working with quants and traders to integrate models into production-ready algos.


Required Qualifications:

  • Experience in Specialty Software Engineering, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, education
  • Experience designing and building low‑latency, highly stable, and scalable electronic trading systems across Credit, Municipal, and Structured Products asset classes.
  • Hands‑on expertise with real‑time pricing, RFQ workflows, market data ingestion, execution engines, STP integration, and performance‑critical components such as messaging, caching, threading, and automated trading controls, delivered within a resilient, enterprise‑grade e‑trading architecture.
  • Extensive experience in software development, with a focus on electronic trading systems and financial markets
  • Experience in programming languages such as Java, Python or C++, with a strong emphasis on low-latency, high-performance computing in Linux environment
  • Deep understanding of data structures, algorithms and object-oriented programming
  • Experience with electronic trading protocols, order types, market data feeds, and exchange connectivity
  • Experience with networking protocols, multicast, and TCP/IP


Desired Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in computer science/engineering
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and containerisation technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus
  • Proficient with AI‑based IDEs and GitHub Copilot to accelerate coding, testing and debugging workflows.
  • Strong knowledge of Agentic AI and Model Context Protocol (MCP).
  • Experienced in applying AI tools across the SDLC to automate and improve developer/Engineer productivity.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a track record of delivering robust and scalable solutions in a fast-paced environment
  • Leadership experience, including the ability to mentor junior engineers, drive technical initiatives, and influence decision-making
