In this role, you'll:


Join Transport for NSW's newly formed Planning, Integration and Passenger division and this role will see act as the principal subject matter expert for freight rail operations across NSW, providing authoritative advice and high-level technical leadership to drive the efficiency, safety, and integration of freight movements across the rail network.


This role will see you manage freight outcomes through our corporate strategic plans and work closely with commercial freight operators and other externa stakeholders to ensure that NSW rail freight systems align with broader freight transport strategies and infrastructure planning.


The role directly supports executive decision-making and future investment through evidence-based insights and deep industry expertise.


This is a permanent role.

About you


You are an experienced rail freight specialist who can operate at both an operations and strategic level, with a deep understanding of NSW and national freight strategies and regulatory frameworks.


You have a strong capability in policy development, performance monitoring, and operational planning including demonstrated experience translating technical insights into strategic decision-making.


You also have a strong understanding of commercial drivers and commercial restraints and can problem solve outcomes.


Your strong understanding of rail freight from either having dealt with freight operators or worked with the industry itself will see you effectively lead the analysis of rail freight network performance, and influence long-term planning, policy development, and infrastructure investment decisions for freight rail operations across NSW.
