Job Description

Supports management in directing and coordinating activities of the department and employees. Leading a team of Building Automation Systems (BAS) Technicians that install, repair, and commission computer-based control systems that control and monitor a building’s mechanical and electrical equipment including heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), chiller plants, energy management systems, lighting control systems, traffic control systems, electric vehicle chargers, waterway navigation systems, building access control equipment and systems, ADA door openers, vehicle gate arm and height bar alarms, solar energy systems, meter installation, replacement and calibration. Interfacing with Leadership and Customers to service our client’s BAS needs. Support miscellaneous UO Maintenance and Ride/show department electronic/energy management needs. Coordinate with Operations personnel to identify and analyze system problems. Monitor Honeywell & Johnson Controls Fire Alarm Life Safety Systems.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plans and delegates work tasks. Delegates work assignments among qualified BAS Technicians. Communicates performance expectations in an effort to ensure proper completion of tasks. Provides feedback for recognition and performance improvement.
  • Actively reinforces company safety guidelines and programs; reports non-compliance. Monitors employee’s productivity, work habits. Leads work startup and stoppage, schedules breaks. Monitors care, condition, use and storage of tools, equipment and other UO property. Maintains material inventories. Monitors compliance with wardrobe/grooming standards, driving policy, radio usage, and other UO policies.
  • Ensures proper completion of documentation. Captures written behaviors using the Lead Observation Report to support managerial and supervisory documentation.
  • Communicates and coordinates with other departments or crafts as resource needs and work plans to supervision. Provides two-way communications between work team, supervisor, and other management and HR personnel.
  • Performs job duties as described in non-lead job description. Maintains and shares job knowledge, assists in developing employees.
  • Assist with training new and current employees. Assigns who will provide daily training.
  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

  • High school degree or GED required
  • Associate degree (AA) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school preferred

EXPERIENCE:

  • 6+ years equivalent BAS control technician experience required
  • Experience with computer-based software required
  • Honeywell EBI Life Safety maintenance/monitoring preferred
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Valid Florida Driver’s License required to operate company vehicles
  • Additionally, a Journeyman, Contractor, or Masters licenses with a minimum of 8,000 hours of relevant job experience that is issued by a Municipality, City, County, State, for the MEP trades OR a National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) Fire Alarm Certification, Niagara Framework Technical Certification, Johnson Controls Metasys (ADS/ADX), Honeywell or any other BAS/DDC System is required.
