If you're someone who thrives at the intersection of supplier relationships, project execution, and commercial negotiation — this role puts you at the heart of how GE Vernova delivers on its commitments.
As a Lead Sourcing Specialist – Buying, you will manage the end-to-end buying process for field services contracting, from building a reliable contractor panel to resolving day-to-day site challenges and ensuring vendors are paid on time. Your work directly supports project margins and keeps GE Vernova's contractual obligations to customers on track.
This is a role for someone who is organized, commercially minded, and comfortable working across internal teams and external partners to get things done.
Key Responsibilities
Build and manage a contractor panel — develop a robust field services contractor network and own its execution across both pre-award (Inquiry to Order) and post-award (Order to Remittance) project phases. Place and follow-up on POs. Manage relationships with suppliers for PO execution. Manage problems and schedule changes. Update ERP.
Lead commercial negotiations — secure competitive deals at the bid stage and drive cost deflation during project delivery to protect and improve margins
Coordinate day-to-day contractor activity — work closely with GE Vernova project teams and site representatives to resolve on-site issues quickly and keep projects moving
Manage HR/statutory clearances — track, monitor, and follow up with vendors to complete HR clearance requirements, enabling GE Vernova to meet its customer contractual obligations
Settle claims and variations — resolve idle time and extra work claims with vendors in collaboration with Field Service leaders, Project Managers, and Sourcing leadership
Resolve vendor payment issues — track vendor payments and work with the Accounts Payable (AP) team to clear outstanding issues
Analyze and align scope — review scope of work, contractual obligations, and customer requirements; identify risks, opportunities, and market factors throughout the project lifecycle in partnership with cross-functional teams
Who We're Looking For
You are a proactive and commercially aware procurement professional who can navigate both strategic and operational demands — someone equally comfortable in a negotiation as you are resolving a payment dispute or coordinating contractors on a live project site.
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or a related field
5+ years of experience in sourcing, procurement, or buying — ideally within a project-based or field services environment
Demonstrated ability to manage supplier relationships, purchase orders (POs), and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to exchange technical information clearly across internal and external stakeholders
Preferred
Experience managing contractor panels or field services vendors in an industrial or energy sector context
Familiarity with claim management processes, including idle time and variation claims
Exposure to cross-functional project environments involving project management, finance, and field operations teams
