What is the opportunity?

We are looking for an experienced Software Release Managerto own the release process for all software releases of our Transfer Agency platforms within GIDS APAC Asset Services Engineering. These are large, complex enterprise platforms made up of many versioned products, components and services that are deployed together into shared environments, often with integrations to third-party and other externally managed products across SS&C.

This is a key role in enabling us to deliver software reliably,predictablyand safelyatscale. It is both a technical and non-technical role, but leans towards coordination,communicationand stakeholder engagement – bringing order and confidence to how we plan, sequence and ship releases across many moving parts.

As Software Release Manager you will own the release calendar, manage dependencies and conflicts across teams, and take accountability for the quality of our release procedures, releasenotesand version management. You will work closely with engineering teams on release planning and automation, and you will be a driving force behind simplifying our environments and versioning so that releases become smoother andlower-riskover time. You will lead this worklargely throughinfluence – through trust, clear communication, strongfacilitationand a collaborative approach – rather than direct authority over the teams involved.

AI is central to how we work. This is a big job, and using AI is essential to doing it well. You will bring AI tooling into every part of your day – planning, coordination, release notes, risk analysis, version mapping and stakeholder communication – and you will continually look for new ways to let AI carry the load so you can focus on judgement and engagement.

This role sits at thecentreof release activity and works across many groups. You will work most closely with Delivery Managers and the IT Service Delivery Lead, and regularly with Infrastructure and SRE teams, IT Service Delivery Managers, Engineering Managers, and business and product stakeholders. There may be some client-facing interaction, although most client communication will flow through the IT Service Delivery Lead. As SS&C is a global company, you willregularly workwith colleagues across different time zones.

What You Will Get To Do:

Key accountabilities

  • Own the release process– take end-to-end ownership of the release process for all Transfer Agency platform software releases, from planning through to deployment and post-release review.

  • Own the release calendarmaintaina clear, forward-looking release calendar and coordinate release windows across multiple teams,platformsand time zones.

  • Manage dependencies and conflictsidentify,sequenceand resolve dependencies and conflicts between releases so that changes land safely and in the right order.

  • Safeguard version integrity– perform version management across all environments, manage the sequencing of upgradesandmaintainthe version dependency mapping so that environments never end up with conflicting versions.

  • Own release procedures– be accountable for the quality of release procedures, ensuring they are complete, reviewedand correct, even where others are the authors.

  • Own release notes– own the creation and distribution of clear, accuraterelease notes for each release.

  • Drive simplification– lead the drive towards simpler environments and versioning, reducing complexity and risk over time.

  • Advance release automation– work with engineering teams to strengthen continuous delivery pipelines and release automation.

  • Champion AI-powered ways of working– leverage AI across the role to plan, coordinate, document and communicate, and encourage its adoption to lift the pace and quality of releases.

Role responsibilities

Release planning & coordination

  • Own andmaintainthe release calendar across the Transfer Agency platforms, coordinating release windows,freezesand blackout periods.

  • Work with engineering teams on release planning – defining scope, readinesscriteriaand sequencing for each release.

  • Identifyand manage cross-team and cross-platform dependencies and conflicts, sequencing releases to avoid collisions.

  • Coordinate upgrades that involve integrations with third-party or externally managed products within SS&C – for example where API connections exist between the platform environment and another managed product.

  • Facilitatereleasereadiness reviews and go/no-go decisions with the relevant stakeholders.

Version & environment management

  • Perform version management across all environments and manage the sequencing of version upgrades.

  • Maintain theversiondependency mapping and actively prevent conflicting versions from being introduced into any environment.

  • Drive the simplification of environments and versioning to reduce complexity,costand risk.

  • Maintain clear traceability from build toenvironmentso the state of every environment is always known.

Procedures, release notes & documentation

  • Be accountable for the quality of release procedures – ensuring they are authored, reviewed and correct, without necessarily being the subject-matter expert who writes them.

  • Own the creation and distribution of release notes for every release.

  • Maintainaccurate, up-to-date release documentation and runbooks asa single sourceof truth for release state.

Release automation & continuous delivery

  • Partner with engineering teams to design, build and improve continuousdeliverypipelines and release automation.

  • Encode approval gates,promotionand validation into pipelines to make releases more repeatable andlower-risk

  • Apply sound CD fundamentals – artifact and version management, environment promotion, and progressive deployment and rollback strategies such as blue-green, canary and rolling releases – to raise release quality.

  • Champion reproducible, identifiable releases – so that everyenvironment'scontents can be traced to a known build, and older releases can be reliably rebuilt.

Stakeholder management & communication

  • Act as thecentral pointof contact for release status, providing clear, business-level communication to stakeholders at all levels.

  • Work closely with Delivery Managers and the IT Service DeliveryLeadto align releases with delivery and service commitments.

  • Manage expectations on timing, sequencing and risk, discussing and agreeing priorities together where needed.

  • Support client-facing communication whererequired, typically through the IT Service Delivery Lead.

AI-powered ways of working

  • Use AI extensively to plan, coordinate, generate release notes, map version dependencies, assess release risk and draft stakeholder communications.

  • Encourage the adoption of AI tooling across the teams involved in releases to improve pace and quality.

  • Stay current with emerging AI release-management practices and role-modeltheir responsible, effective use.

Risk & continuous improvement

  • Identifyrelease risks early and work with teams to shape and carry out mitigation and rollback plans.

  • Run post-release reviews and use delivery metrics – such as the DORA measures (deployment frequency, lead time for changes, change failure rate and time to restore service) – to drive steady improvement in predictability, quality and pace, using them to improve the process rather than to compare individuals or teams.

What You Will Bring:

Skills and competencies

  • Release managementexpertise– strong background owning software releases in large, complex enterprise environments made up of many versioned components and services.

  • Continuous delivery knowledge– deep, practical knowledge of CD fundamentals is required, including continuous integration, artifact versioning, environment promotion, and progressive deployment and rollback strategies (blue-green, canary, rolling); hands-on experience designing and building continuous delivery pipelines is highly desirable.

  • Tooling– experience with release and deployment tooling such as GitHub Actions and Octopus Deploy ; experiencewith any comparable CI/CD platform is valued alongside strong CD fundamentals.

  • Version & dependency management– proven ability to manage versioning across multiple environments, sequence upgrades and maintaina clear dependency map that prevents conflicts.

  • Coordination &organisation– able to juggle many parallel workstreams with meticulous attention to detail and a calm, structured approach under pressure.

  • Leading through influence– able to align and motivate teams towards safe, on-time releases through trust and collaboration, without direct line-management authority.

  • Stakeholder management– proven ability to manage and align diverse stakeholders, including delivery, infrastructure, SRE, service delivery, engineeringand business teams.

  • Communication skills– excellent written and verbal communication, able to liaise confidently with technical and non-technical audiences across all levels of an organisation

  • AI-first mindset– enthusiasm for and experience using AI tools to do more, with the drive to embed AI ways of working across the release process.

  • Risk & dependency management– ability to identify, communicate and mitigate release risks and manage cross-team and third-party dependencies.

  • Integration awareness– experience coordinating upgrades across integrated and third-party or externally managed products, including API-connected systems.

  • Financial services context– experience delivering in financial services or similarly complex, regulated environments is an advantage; knowledge of mutual funds or transfer agency is a plus.

Education and qualification:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent industry experience.

  • Demonstrated experience in a Release Manager, Release Engineering, DevOps, or equivalent role responsible for releases in complex enterprise environments – suited to a senior,leador principal-level practitioner.

  • Practical knowledge of continuous delivery fundamentals isrequired; hands-on experience building CD pipelines (e.g.GitHub Actions, Octopus Deploy) is highly desirable.

  • Familiarity with arecognisedchange and release framework is valuable – for example ITIL change enablement, or a scaled-agile release role such asSAFeRelease Train Engineer.

  • ITIL,SAFe(e.g.Release Train Engineer) or DevOps/cloud certification is an advantage.
