Job Summary:

As a Lead Software Engineer – Python or Java with AI at JPMorgan Chase you will help design and build the core systems for our source code intelligence platform. You will work on distributed indexing and search infrastructure, multi-language semantic and AST analysis, and interfaces that enable AI agents to query the platform for standards-compliant code. In this hands-on technical lead role, you will write code daily across our JVM and systems-language stack, set technical direction for a small team, and directly influence how a regulated financial enterprise scales software development with AI. You will collaborate with talented colleagues and contribute to a culture of excellence and innovation.

Job Responsibilities:

• Lead the design and development of backend systems using Python or Java
• Build and enhance distributed indexing and search infrastructure for source code intelligence
• Develop multi-language semantic and AST analysis capabilities
• Create interfaces for AI agents to query and validate code
• Apply AI techniques to enable large-scale code search, vulnerability discovery, and SDLC automation
• Streamline engineering processes to improve productivity and quality
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver robust solutions
• Ensure adherence to best practices in industrial hygiene and software engineering
• Mentor and guide junior engineers
• Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies, including Claude AI capabilities
• Drive continuous improvement in development workflows and foster an inclusive and innovative team culture

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:

• Proficiency in Python or Java for backend development
• Strong understanding of AI concepts and practical application
• Experience with distributed systems architecture
• Ability to design and optimize data models and data structures
• Demonstrated skill in streamlining engineering processes
• Knowledge of industrial hygiene principles in software environments
• Experience integrating Claude AI or similar advanced AI tools
• Effective collaboration and communication skills

• Ability to mentor and support team members
• Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:

• Experience leading software engineering teams
