Wells Fargo is seeking a highly skilled Lead Software Engineer to lead the design, development, and delivery of modern, scalable, cloud-native applications. This role requires deep expertise in full stack development, React, Python, GraphQL, Java-based microservices, MongoDB, SQL databases, and AI/Generative AI technologies. You will provide technical leadership, drive architectural decisions, mentor engineers, and partner with product owners, architects, and business stakeholders to deliver secure, high-quality software solutions.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead complex technology initiatives including those that are companywide with broad impact
  • Design and build automation to streamline provisioning, configuration, and lifecycle management of infrastructure resources across a range of cryptographic and network infrastructure.
  • Create API‑driven integrations between network platforms and internal systems.
  • Develop and maintain automation frameworks that improve reliability and reduce operational toil.
  • Translate manual operational procedures into codified, repeatable automation.
  • Ensure automation artifacts follow best practices for performance, maintainability, and security.
  • Collaborate with network engineering and platform teams to align automation with broader architectural strategies.
  • Lead the automation of product deployments, customer journeys, and creation of APIs for our Load Balancing and other infrastructure services
  • Demonstrate proficiency in using AI‑assisted development and analysis tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot and approved code‑centric agents)
  • Leverage AI to accelerate system design, coding, testing, analysis, and troubleshooting
  • Apply strong technical judgment when validating and integrating AI‑assisted outputs into solutions
  • Understand and account for model limitations, security risks, and operational considerations
  • Apply AI responsibly in development and production environments
  • Ensure AI usage aligns with security, compliance, privacy, and ethical standards
  • Lead the architecture, design, and development of enterprise-grade applications using modern full stack technologies. Design and implement scalable microservices and API-first architectures using GraphQL and REST. Build responsive, accessible, and high-performing user interfaces using React and modern JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks .Develop and optimize backend services leveraging Java/Spring Boot and cloud-native patterns. Design and manage data solutions utilizing MongoDB, SQL Server, or other relational databases. Integrate AI and Generative AI capabilities into applications to improve productivity, automation, and business outcomes. Establish technical standards, coding practices, and engineering excellence across the team. Lead code reviews, architectural reviews, and production readiness assessments. Mentor and coach engineers while fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation. Collaborate with product owners, architects, security teams, and platform engineering teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions. Analyze and resolve complex production issues while improving system reliability and performance.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

  • Strong experience building enterprise applications across the full technology stack.

  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

Job Expectations:

  • Serve as the technical lead for strategic modernization and AI initiatives. Define and influence architecture standards across multiple teams. Drive adoption of AI-assisted engineering and development practices. Mentor engineers and cultivate future technical leaders. Balance innovation, delivery, security, operational excellence, and long-term maintainability.

Pay Range

Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to demonstrated examples of prior performance, skills, experience, or work location. Employees may also be eligible for incentive opportunities. $143,000.00 - $224,000.00
