As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorganChase within CIB, you will play a pivotal role in designing and delivering high-quality, scalable software solutions that power critical business functions. You will bring technical depth and leadership to a collaborative engineering team, helping to shape architecture decisions and drive engineering excellence. Your work will directly contribute to the firm's ability to serve millions of clients across the EMEA region and beyond.

Job responsibilities

  • Design and develop robust, scalable, and maintainable software solutions that meet complex business and technical requirements
  • Lead end-to-end delivery of software features and components, ensuring quality, performance, and reliability across the full development lifecycle
  • Collaborate with product managers, architects, and cross-functional stakeholders to translate business needs into technical solutions
  • Conduct and facilitate thorough code reviews, providing constructive feedback to elevate engineering standards across the team
  • Identify and resolve technical risks, bottlenecks, and production issues with a proactive and structured approach
  • Mentor and coach junior and mid-level engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical growth
  • Contribute to the evolution of engineering practices, tooling, and frameworks to improve team productivity and code quality
  • Drives team adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices within the work environment to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes (e.g., AI-assisted code review/refactoring, test strategy acceleration, incident/root-cause analysis support), while establishing consistent validation standards (secure coding, peer review, automated testing) and promoting reuse of effective patterns across the team
  • Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and advanced applied experience
  • Hands-on experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools within the work environment (e.g., for coding, test creation, troubleshooting, or documentation) with demonstrated ability to critically evaluate, validate, and refine AI-generated outputs for correctness, performance, and security
  • Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations; ability to guide peers on safe and effective usage within team practices
  • Proficiency in one or more modern programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, Go, or equivalent) with a strong understanding of software design principles and patterns
  • Demonstrated experience designing and building distributed systems, microservices, or cloud-native applications at scale
  • Strong understanding of software testing strategies, including unit, integration, and end-to-end testing, with a commitment to quality-first engineering
  • Experience working in Agile or iterative delivery environments, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes in a fast-paced setting
  • Proven ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Experience working in regulated industries, particularly financial services, with an understanding of compliance and security considerations in software delivery
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) and modern DevOps practices including CI/CD pipeline management
  • Exposure to event-driven architectures, messaging systems (e.g., Kafka), or real-time data processing frameworks
  • Experience contributing to or leading technical communities of practice, guilds, or engineering forums
  • Knowledge of EMEA regulatory and data residency requirements as they relate to software systems
